Stargate Friday, wheeeee!

First off - lame title. Can't we have some interesting, creative titles that are more than one word long?
Hey, that looks like those chair thingies from "Gamekeeper"!
Well, whaddya know, it is. Nice bit of continuity. And I'm glad this doctor guy (can never remember his name), from Evolution is back again. Twice this season, cool.
"You have failed." Hah. Teal'c is so marvelously blunt.
So now Sam is a computer game programmer now, too? Geez, whatever.
Making the chair so that the only one who can shut it down is the player...yeah, dumb move.
What in frelling hell is up with Teal'c? The giddy little grin thing is creeping me out. Ok, so Sam thinks it's just cockiness. I can buy that, but dude. Smiling.
Ok, now that he's in battle, no more with the smiling. Damn, this game is kicking his ass.
Bwah! And Daniel comes to watch now, too. Spectator sport!
Ooh, everything's all purple and green. Reminds me of a laser tag arena.
Huh, another new doctor. Are they rotating docs until they find one that manages to fill Janet's shoes?
Um, if there were only 30 seconds before auto-destruct? I wouldn't be sitting there calmly saying so over the intercom. Sergeant Davis has nerves of steel, evidently.
"Because...?" Hee. Love the way Michael delivered that line.
Ok, now Teal'c daft from video game.
Doctor guy really looks familiar. Not quite "hey it's that guy!" status, but close.
The game doesn't know it's just a game. Maybe Sam can only be unintentionally funny.
So, what, do they keep a list of "planets we can blow up in emergencies" for just this sort of situation?
The hell? Daniel shot Walter. And he's goa'ulded. Damn, Teal'c is coming off as a paranoid defeatist here. And now he's quitting? If he's not playing, shouldn't the game shut down?
Heh. Michael is getting the great one-word lines this ep. He's so just being goofy and playing with tones and facial expressions these days.
Omg, I can't wait for this ep to be over (I know, I'm sorry!) so Atlantis will come on. Rodney looks so adorable in those previews! The outdoor lighting agrees with him.
Daniel and Sam saying something in tandem isn't quite as cute as Daniel and Jack, but I love that they both volunteered instantly.
Heh. Teal'c shot Daniel! And again. Heh. Damn. Daniel got the drop on him and he still shoots. Without even giving him a chance. That's cold.
"If either one of us dies, we both lose." Awww. This is so sweet. And I'm not taping. Damn. Maybe I'll have to catch it on the flip-side.
Wheee! Go Daniel! Ok, this is a shallow, eye-candy type ep, but I'm liking it. It's fun :)
People keep blaming things on Siler. Poor guy.
Dude, this is cool. All four with guns drawn? Oh, nevermind, it's Siler. Ow, and he's certainly dead now. Damn, T.
Yay, and they're out! I'd be wanting to get out of the chair like, right then.
Next week - To save Teal'c, Daniel will cross the line? What line?
Aaaand, Atlantis! Woohoo!
Hee. Rodney already mentioning Sam. Don't worry, Rodney, you'll get over it. You have Carson now, after all.
"Energy field good." Heeee. I love McKay.
Man, if they spend the entire ep on this planet, we won't get any Carson screen time. I must sulk now.
So they fried the jumper. Great. I hope these don't turn into the new Shuttlepods.
"How prescient of you." God, I love him.
Looks like these four are indeed the new SG1.
Ford has some common sense. Yes, only kids, but kids with deadly weapons.
Elders. So, they'd be what, in their early twenties? Hey, I could be an elder!
Ooh, nifty treehouses!
Aw, now even Sheppard is using first names. I love this show.
Hey, we get an age for Ford. 25. That gives us a good ten year age gap between him and Sheppard and McKay, but that makes him about the same age as Teyla.
Ok...so, if you die violently you can't possibly have a happy afterlife? That's a positive outlook. 'Course, now they're also talking suicide. I think this more than balances out the coolness of the treehouses.
Is this just a case of the kids not knowing what really keeps the Wraith away from their planet? Wonder if it's something they'll be able to study and duplicate, though I doubt it, this early in the season.
Dude, I'm still getting a strong sense of dislike from Teyla towards Rodney. She doesn't seem to like him at all.
Ha! Rodney doesn't play well with kids. How cute. Oh my, and it just makes me love him more. I'm so whipped.
Man, I'm with Shep that this set-up is really, really sucky, but I wonder what they can realistically do besides try to explain about the electromagnetic stuff. I mean, 12 villages?
Aw, c'mon Rodney, don't be mean. Aw, he made her cry. Oh boy. And yet I still adore him, and I'm giggling uncontrollably. Still, Rodney, dearest, it's probably a good thing that you're gay.
Bwah! "He's just upset because you're smarter than him." Heh. And Ford is finally funny.
Oh boy, a ZPM. But really, they can't take it. Well, looks like they're going to anyway, but at least only temporarily. Still, Teyla has some good points. This isn't such a good idea.
Oh damn, they're gonna let Rodney fly? This doesn't bode well.
Of course, their little shrine is a transmitter. Yay.
Crap, Rodney isn't coming off too good here. He'll learn from it, though. He's come pretty far from SG1, after all, and despite all his bitching and such, he still cares.
Good points from Weir. She's gonna have to make some rules about what the teams can take from other worlds. She's right, they can't bring back refugees from every corner of the Pegasus. They just don't have the resources, despite the size of the mainland.
Scenes like this make me worry people will start to dislike Rodney a bit. He's oddly contradictory here - part of him is reacting strongly to the idea of the suicide pact, but another part would take the ZPM to benefit the Atlantis crew without much of a thought for the consequences.
Oh boy, now he broke it. This will *definitely* have repercussions. Rodney may get a good deal of character development from the guilt involved in this episode. I certainly hope he learns from it.
Rodney with a pistol makes me nervous.
Ah, the kids. Of course. I bet he'll need their help to pull this off.
Whoa, what the hell is that? New Wraith ship? Weird. Ok, a probe. It scanned the jumper, though, that's not good.
Heh. By accident. Sure, Ford.
Lol. Go to your rooms, indeed. Nice try, Rodney. Like that would work.
Oh yeah, Rodney's feeling some guilt here.
Yay! He got it working! Go Rodney! Aw, and he's bonded with the kids.
Heh. Rodney's not in the greatest shape. Carson will have to give him a little talking-to about that favorite food of his, and all those chocolate bars he eats.
Ah, so he fixed it so they don't have to kill themselves anymore. Convenient, and I doubt whoever set the thing up wouldn't have been able to do the same, but I'm glad.
They gave him an MRE for his birthday? That's just cruel. Ok, maybe it's just chocolate. Better.
No Carson! I knew it. I feel so bereft...*sniff*
At least next week is the Carson-centered episode "Poisoning the Well". I feel slightly mollified.
For the most part, I enjoyed this week's ep. I do hope the Atlantis team isn't going to continue the SG1 legacy of showing up on a new planet, meeting new people, screwing over said new people, and spending the episode fixing their own mistakes. Can we try learning from past events?
A whole week before the new ep. I'm so impatient.

Date: 2004-08-13 10:40 pm (UTC)I'm betting someone stuck prozac in the water supply in hopes it would make Jack easier to deal with.
Next week - To save Teal'c, Daniel will cross the line? What line?
This is what I would like to know.
Ok...so, if you die violently you can't possibly have a happy afterlife? That's a positive outlook.
Well, there is cultural precedent. Though mostly from the other end...
Ha! Rodney doesn't play well with kids. How cute. Oh my, and it just makes me love him more. I'm so whipped.
You SO are. But it was funny, and I loved that Ford found it funny. And those kids were totally enjoying ticking him off.
Aw, c'mon Rodney, don't be mean. Aw, he made her cry. Oh boy. Rodney, dearest, it's probably a good thing that you're gay.
I was thinking that too... Of course, it is always possible that Carson might want to adopt. *Innocent grin?*
Good points from Weir. She's gonna have to make some rules about what the teams can take from other worlds. She's right, they can't bring back refugees from every corner of the Pegasus. They just don't have the resources, despite the size of the mainland.
God, I loved Weir in this one. Just - She gave Rodney a good smack on the hand. He looked like he could be learning rather a lot from that. And she was just so - Mwah! UN. You know, ways of life, choices we can't make... I like her. She's got a very different morality from anyone on the SGC and that was throughly on display there.
Plus! You could see her freckles! *dies of the cute*
Scenes like this make me worry people will start to dislike Rodney a bit. He's oddly contradictory here - part of him is reacting strongly to the idea of the suicide pact, but another part would take the ZPM to benefit the Atlantis crew without much of a thought for the consequences.
Eh. Shining knight he's not. There's really nothing contradictory about his behavior - he has a first class case of Manifest Destiny syndrome, which I'm sure he'll grow out of, especially since he's got Weir about to get ticked off at him about it. It's the same mindset that locked the Souix up and then tried to stop the Sun Dances because they involve ritual wounding. It's a 'I know what's best' mindset, and Rodney's got it in spades.
Alas. Still, I doubt he'll manage to keep that arrogance intact for long, like I said.
Rodney with a pistol makes me nervous.
...Me too.
At least next week is the Carson-centered episode "Poisoning the Well". I feel slightly mollified.
I'm so excited! Did you see his face as he bent over that patient? Wah! Carson angst! Squeee! *bounce bounce*
(no subject)
Date: 2004-08-13 11:28 pm (UTC)Hee. Maybe that's it. We can also blame it for Daniel's kaleidescope of facial expressions.
This is what I would like to know.
Uh huh. Does Daniel break the law? That could be interesting. Maybe he breaks Teal'c out of jail *g*
You SO are. But it was funny, and I loved that Ford found it funny. And those kids were totally enjoying ticking him off.
I know. He has me charmed, completely. That scene made me like Ford a lot better, too.
I was thinking that too... Of course, it is always possible that Carson might want to adopt. *Innocent grin?*
Heeeeee. Kids vs. cats. This may be an argument in the making *g*

I agree. She (and Teyla, a bit) seemed to be the only ones who realized their limitations and why they should be more careful. I thought she did a good job of telling Rodney how it is.
Plus! You could see her freckles! *dies of the cute*
Yes! I can relate to her now! ;)

True, and that's a good point. I was thinking it was a very American attitude for a Canadian to have. It's a failing almost everyone at the SGC has, and they'll need to try to grow out of that in Atlantis.
Alas. Still, I doubt he'll manage to keep that arrogance intact for long, like I said.
I agree. He's definitely learning, and you could tell when some of the ramifications of what they'd done really sank in.
I'm so excited! Did you see his face as he bent over that patient? Wah! Carson angst! Squeee! *bounce bounce*
I'm a little wary, b/c there's a doctor chick and it looks like Carson will be spending a good deal of time with her, but from pics it looks like she might die, so I'll have to deal. Still, they need to keep my boys away from romantic entanglements, except of course with each other :)

Date: 2004-08-14 09:33 pm (UTC)*nodnod* Sadly, the intended target seems to immune.
Uh huh. Does Daniel break the law? That could be interesting. Maybe he breaks Teal'c out of jail *g*
Snarky linguist and alien rebel go on the lamb! Story at eleven. *giggles* What I wouldn't pay to see that. They could end up at those really, really good roadside resturants you find in Iowa, and get lost on the Eastern Colorado backroads (of which there are lots) and those two in downtown Boulder would be about the funniest thing ever! And they could encounter the vast flatness that is Nebraska, and the pure weirdness of small town midwest museums - I don't think Teal'C has ever seen any of the county war memorials that dot the US landscape and he should...
Probably won't happen though. *pouts*
I know. He has me charmed, completely. That scene made me like Ford a lot better, too.
*nodnod* He's hopelessly cute, even though my mother probably would have murdered him for his behavior if she'd been about.
I have a hopelessly hormonal, completely full blown crush on Ford now. Arrgh!
Heeeeee. Kids vs. cats. This may be an argument in the making *g*
Well, maybe when they've gotten past pre-slash in my head, I'll write it! *G* That Would be fun.
I agree. She (and Teyla, a bit) seemed to be the only ones who realized their limitations and why they should be more careful. I thought she did a good job of telling Rodney how it is.
Yep. Very focused on practicalities as well as ethics. *fangirls her*
True, and that's a good point. I was thinking it was a very American attitude for a Canadian to have. It's a failing almost everyone at the SGC has, and they'll need to try to grow out of that in Atlantis.
They will, if they want to survive. *G* I don't think it'll take too long.
I think with McKay it's connected in some ways to his scientific training and the fact that he is incredibly intelligent. The trouble with acadamia is that it can turn anyone a little myopic, a little too used to doing things simply because they can be done. It drains the common sense out of you (which is why I have a friend who claims that only people from Iowa, who have way too much common sense anyways, should be allowed in universites for extended periods of time). And McKay is used to people simply accepting that he knows best because he's lots smarter than they are. I think we saw that in 48 hours, the episode he had with Sam. He's not really used to being put into a situation where he's not The Expert, brought in to tell everyone else what to do.
I'm a little wary, b/c there's a doctor chick and it looks like Carson will be spending a good deal of time with her, but from pics it looks like she might die, so I'll have to deal. Still, they need to keep my boys away from romantic entanglements, except of course with each other :)
*G* I'm pretty easy with those. So long as it isn't hideously poorly handled I just decide it's simply one of those sudden crushes that fade into a friendly affection as you get to know the person better. It's the longer term, devolped over more than one episode stuff that sometimes annoys, simply because it's so rarely well handled.
(no subject)
Date: 2004-08-15 08:21 pm (UTC)Bwah! What fun that would be. Teal'c would of course appreciate every minute of such a road trip :)
*nodnod* He's hopelessly cute, even though my mother probably would have murdered him for his behavior if she'd been about.
True. Sometimes you want to smack him a good one, but the urge to pinch his cheek and call him adorable follows right after. Most ineffable.
I have a hopelessly hormonal, completely full blown crush on Ford now. Arrgh!
Hee! I'm so glad these characters are evolving so quickly.
Well, maybe when they've gotten past pre-slash in my head, I'll write it! *G* That Would be fun.
Whee! So many wonderful fic opportunities await.
Yep. Very focused on practicalities as well as ethics. *fangirls her*
She's just what they need, and really, the SGC could use her as well. They need someone who's going to step back, think about ramifications, and say "hey, that's not such a good idea" from time to time.

Hmmm, very interesting points. The Ivory Tower can indeed affect one's personality like that. Now Rodney is in a similar situation to what Sam has done the past 8 years - now he's going to be in the field as well as in the lab. Should be interesting to see how he balances the two.

I like that outlook :) Really, I expect to dismiss it almost as a professional crush, two doctors bonding while working together on a difficult case.

Date: 2004-08-13 11:36 pm (UTC)My mind, which apparently moved to Pornville two weeks ago without my knowledge or consent, went very bad places with that line.
So they fried the jumper. Great. I hope these don't turn into the new Shuttlepods.
I loved that Sheppard was concerned about wasting a perfectly fine jumper. Since, y'know, they only have, like, five. Glad to see they aren't going the Voyager route with these things.
Elders. So, they'd be what, in their early twenties? Hey, I could be an elder!
Me too!

*desperately wants to see an episode where Sheppard sets up Ford and Teyla* This has nothing to do with me wanting her completely out of the way so that the writers don't get any bright ideas about Sheppard/Teyla ship, of course. Absolutely nothing.

"Mommy, can I keep it, can I, pleeeeeease?" OMG, Atlantis is gonna be like the Cub Scout Den From Hell, and Weir's gonna have to be den mother. I hope she brought a whoooole lotta valium...
Rodney with a pistol makes me nervous.
Exceedingly.
At least next week is the Carson-centered episode "Poisoning the Well".
I really, really hope that there's an actual water well in this episode so that it lives up to its fabulously punny title.
For the most part, I enjoyed this week's ep. I do hope the Atlantis team isn't going to continue the SG1 legacy of showing up on a new planet, meeting new people, screwing over said new people, and spending the episode fixing their own mistakes. Can we try learning from past events?
I want them to explore the city, dammit. I know they're low on power and can't really get most sections up and running, but damn. Their has-to-stay-home character is one of the two leads, and they have a freaking CITY there. With all kinds of detritus from long-gone inhabitants. Do they not understand how incredibly fascinating this could be??

I loved that Sheppard was concerned about wasting a perfectly fine jumper. Since, y'know, they only have, like, five. Glad to see they aren't going the Voyager route with these things.
I agree. Good thing it was ok in the end. They really can't afford to lose any at all.
Elders. So, they'd be what, in their early twenties? Hey, I could be an elder!
Me too!
We rule everything!
*desperately wants to see an episode where Sheppard sets up Ford and Teyla* This has nothing to do with me wanting her completely out of the way so that the writers don't get any bright ideas about Sheppard/Teyla ship, of course. Absolutely nothing.
That would amuse me to no end, actually. Yay Ford/Teyla!
"Mommy, can I keep it, can I, pleeeeeease?" OMG, Atlantis is gonna be like the Cub Scout Den From Hell, and Weir's gonna have to be den mother. I hope she brought a whoooole lotta valium...
*dies* Sheppard is such a "can we keep it?" type of guy. Oh man, poor Weir.
I really, really hope that there's an actual water well in this episode so that it lives up to its fabulously punny title.
I love that title. Atlantis should be full of puns and running jokes.

Dude, I so agree. There is so much to see, and they haven't even shown us the mainland yet! I want them to poke around some more, and we should see their cafeteria and other things they've set up, and maybe even a day at the beach. So many possibilities!
(no subject)
Date: 2004-08-14 03:25 pm (UTC)Yeah, and this is especially disturbing coming on the heels of the Atlantis Crackfic that I have yet to finish. Gah.
We rule everything!
Woo-hoo!
That would amuse me to no end, actually. Yay Ford/Teyla!
I think Ford/Teyla would both crack me up and actually be kind of good for each other. Ford's sort of like Sheppard with the humor, but closer in age to Teyla, and also not what essentially boils down to being her commanding officer. (Which, okay, yes, hypocritical of a Sam/Jack shipper to say, but there are other factors at work there, like the fact that they actually have chemistry, unlike Teyla with just about anybody at the moment.)
*dies* Sheppard is such a "can we keep it?" type of guy. Oh man, poor Weir.
Sheppard and McKay (and probably Ford, too) are all the type who would bring something (a puppy, a robot, a whole civilization) back home and ask to keep it. Hee. If she doesn't already know, Lizzie needs to take classes in saying no to puppy eyes.
I love that title. Atlantis should be full of puns and running jokes.
Yes! Yes, it should.

In addition to little hints all the time, I want an entire episode devoted to showing life in the city. Someone could have a video camera and go around making a documentary, like "Atlantis: Six months after arrival" or something like that. I have a feeling it would end up being my favorite episode.

Ford would be fun for Teyla, and like you said, without as much baggage. Shagging a team member isn't quite like shagging the commander/leader.

Can't see McKay giving puppy eyes, but oh boy, Shep would do that in a heartbeat, and probably Ford as well. Rodney would just badger her into giving in *g*

Huh, that could be interesting. They may think it's a bit early to show an episode like that, but even an ep where they do nothing but deal with discoveries and various problems in the city could work. With the proper dialogue and character interaction, and plenty of humor, I would never be bored.

Badger badger badger badger... (Mushroom, snake, etc.) You're right. That's exactly what he'd do.

Next week we demand to have some Carson time! *glares*

Date: 2004-08-14 05:26 am (UTC)Cross what line? Fuck you stoopid announcer I don't want another Teal'c centric epsiode, bitch.
Weir. Hrm, she was right but still not a big fan of hers. I'm liking Ford much, much more as well as Teyla. I don't think it's so much a dislike for McKay but his actions maybe they'll expand their relationship later on.
::snerk:: I love McKay with those kids.
::snerk:: Ford was cute with the kids too.
Yeah...that's pretty much all I have to say on that.
