Look! All J&W fans go take a look at what
cimmerianwillow drew for me! My own Bertie and Jeeves, to be matted, framed, and hung on my wall :) Isn't she amazing?
Life is good, much better than yesterday.
Got my application for substitute teaching turned in, and tomorrow I'll be calling to set up an appointment for fingerprinting and a background check (mandatory now, evidently).
Went to McKay's Used Books to look for Wodehouse, to no avail. I did leave with a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories with original Strand Magazine illustrations, and two Terry Pratchett hardbacks - Guards, Guards! and Wyrd Sisters. They had a ton of the Pratchett hardbacks for $5, but I can't afford to get all of them at once. Maybe next time.
Had a great time in the Chatterley's chat tonight, even though Toots kept hitting me on the head with a frying pan, and she and
krzykat sat on me. Brats :P
I'm about halfway through Moab is my Washpot. It's a fascinating book and I'm enjoying it so much. I hope one day Stephen will write another novel about the next 20 years of his life.
Thanks to all of you for cheering me up yesterday. You're the best!

Date: 2003-08-07 09:34 pm (UTC)It is indeed a wrench, b/c while rationally I can tell myself buying them all now would be cheaper in the long run, I really need to keep to my budget until I've got a steady paycheck again. Yay for you, though, purchasing The Colour of Magic! That is indeed the first book in the Discworld series, and I look forward to hearing your take on it. I think you'll really like the universe he's created :)
I just love that pic of them playing chess together. It was such a tease, considering he stopped writing when he got to his arrival at Cambridge. I'm sure you'll pick it up sometime, though. We're all such incorrigable influences on each other's reading ;)

When I was rifling through the photos, I kind of whispered, "there aren't any more of both of them? what gives?" but *cough*after reading the ending*exuent cough* I realized the book ended before Hugh came along. Still, it looks a wonderfully cool read and when the Jeeves angst hits its climax, I know it will make me feel better.

H’m…interested in the Hugh and Wodehouse refs…h’m…oh, but dash it, not till I’ve made a dent in the list--damnable siren songs.
