Well, ended up not going to Alabama this year, due mostly to time and lack of sleep. Didn't feel up to driving all the way down there, eating, and turning right back around to come home before going to Lessons and Carols and trying to sing on no sleep. So I didn't. Stayed home and had leftover goose instead, watched a lot of Starsky and Hutch (squee!), and went to the early sales at Proffit's where I snagged a London Fogg fleece jacket thing for 60% off (omg, warm!).

Lessons and Carols went well. I didn't actually decide on which carol I was going to do until last minute, but I really wanted to do the Welsh, so I went with "Pa fwyn beroriaeth", which is a Welsh version of "What Child Is This?" (to the familiar "Greensleeves" tune). I did the verses in Welsh and the chorus in English, a capella, and it seemed to go over well. Really, these people make me blush more often than should be legal.

Also, pressies!! This year was my "practical Christmas" for the most part, so my haul consists mostly of stuff vital to living on one's own. The 'rents gifted me with a vacuum cleaner, microwave and toaster oven. Also, the usual pair of socks, these with little penguins wearing santa hats. All my presents were wrapped with penguin wrapping paper, actually, which amused me greatly (mum says if she ever finds squid paper, I'm getting that).

On the non-practical side, my sister gave me Clash of the Titans on DVD, so I can entertain myself with cheesy Greek drama. Mum gave me S1 of SG1, but as that season is unfortunately sort of on the...crappy side, and not exactly at the top of my list, I took it back to Best Buy to exchange. They had a limited number of seasons to choose from, and after long debate I ended up coming home with season 7, which I'm watching now. I love commentaries. Peter DeLuise is such a geeky, adorable guy, and most amusing.

Now I want to go out and buy all the seasons. I'm also terribly tempted to go back to Best Buy and get the 1st season of X-Files, as they had it on sale for 50% off (still expensive, since the full price is a hundred bucks, but geez, half off!).

Still trying to figure out just what it is that my uncle and his family got me. Some sort of black leather adornment with silver end pieces that connect. I thought it was a choker, which might've been cool, but it's too small for that. Possibly a bracelet, but it's at least twice the size of my wrist. I don't really do jewelry much, so if possible I may try to exchange this thing. I thought I'd trained all the relatives to just give me money, but alas, this year they rebelled.

Going back to work on Tuesday will be jarring, after all this holiday time off. I've been spoiled. Doesn't take much, it seems...
