I'll have to practice with the gel in order to get really good spikiness, but this represents my efforts thus far.

You'll notice I wear a lot of green ;P

Wheeee! Someone finally noticed this icon :-D I had to get it specially made. (I don't have the animation stuff on my machine.)

I love yours, by the way. Cute image and funny slogan. Reminds me of that quote [livejournal.com profile] shatfat yoinked for an icon: "Clearly I'm not part of the LJ culture of pseudolesbianism."

Not pseudo in my case, though :-) I've always loved the spiky-haired look, even going back to being 16 yrs old...

btw, where DID that drawing come from? It looks quite vintage!

Heh, it did come out of those wanks about fake lesbianism on LJ. [livejournal.com profile] lornelover and I decided we were going to ignore the wank and promote it all in icons instead :)

I've envied the spikey look, but this is the first time my hair's been short enough to actually do it. A friend here at uni calls it "dyke hair".

Ooh, the image...I yanked it from some website I came across while googling for suitable pics of "girls kissing" for the icon. The site had a collection of vintage French postcards featuring various lesbian themes. It was a great website. I thought for sure I'd bookmarked it, but I can't seem to find it.

Once again, very nice.

Whenever I see people with the cool short haircuts, I always contemplate cutting my hair off to do that kind of stuff, but I inevitably think my hairdresser cut too much off when she takes a few inches. Oh well.

Thanks, Laura. I can relate to the hesitance about short hair. I had really long hair in high school, and it's gotten shorter in small steps since then. I had a "Scully" cut for the longest time, and I think my hairdressers have just been taking a bit more off each time I go. I should probably worry about next month's cut ;)

Cool hair! *approves much* I need to do something with mine.... *muses*

And I seem to have missed the "fake lesbian" debate/wank *is perplexed* what went on?

Thanks! You'll have to show us if you do decide to make a change with yours.

Ah, let's see. I forget all the actual participants, but a few female fans who were actual lesbians or bisexuals made a big fuss about the trend they were seeing in fandom where straight females were acting like "fake lesbians" or something. How some of us were taking the usual *hugs* or *smooches* type actions on LJ and going one step further with *sexes* and such with other female friends on LJ. According to them, we were "cheapening" real homosexuality. I think that's how the argument went. Personally, I think it's nice that everyone wasn't making a big deal of boundaries and things, thus the icon.

*is now quietly snorting to self* A bit of a "I'm more Lesbian than you are?" contest it sounds like!!! What a thesis *that* would make - "Lesbians - Real vs Fake". Oh I know I shouldn't laugh. But like you say, it's *nice* to live without those boundaries being constantly brought up all the time.

And 'sides - "fake" internet lesbianism is sometimes part of the process for someone working out where their inclinations do lie. Bit like another form of experimentation or whatnot.

(Summed up, not very articulately, as "I'm All For It!" ;-)
