Ah, let's see. I forget all the actual participants, but a few female fans who were actual lesbians or bisexuals made a big fuss about the trend they were seeing in fandom where straight females were acting like "fake lesbians" or something. How some of us were taking the usual *hugs* or *smooches* type actions on LJ and going one step further with *sexes* and such with other female friends on LJ. According to them, we were "cheapening" real homosexuality. I think that's how the argument went. Personally, I think it's nice that everyone wasn't making a big deal of boundaries and things, thus the icon.
