Movie review: Darklight

Movie starts out with lots of exposition. I won't go into too much of it, though. On to more important bits...

David gets to be the bad guy! Geez, he's hot as the villian. Longish hair, bit of a temper tantrum, and omg, he takes off his shirt within the first few minutes he's onscreen. He looks good. Just the slightest hint of belly, but he's sleek and defined.

Ok, so his character has undergone some sort of process with a serum to give him immortality. It also turns him into what they call a "demonicos", biiiig gargoyle looking creature with wings. Dude, I hope he doesn't spend the entire movie like that.

One annoying thing about Sci-Fi Pictures - they cast pretty good leading actors, but their background characters and secondaries leave a lot to be desired. The acting here is very wooden.

Richard Burgi is good. Very much the action anti-hero. Rugged, gravely voice, leather. Mmm, yeah. He doesn't look much different since he did when the Sentinel went off air, 'cept he went back to the shorter hair, which is of the good. He still has the cutest ears ever.

The lead female is Elle, the immortal Lilith, who was the first woman, before Eve, but was cast out of Eden and cursed to be a demon b/c she refused to be unequal to Adam (bit of a harsh punishment, there). This secret group called the Faith (of which Richard and John deLancie's characters are a part) hunted her down, wiped her memory, and set her up in a new life. She's made of "darklight", which lets her heal any wounds she sustains. They'd been suppressing her abilities with some sort of pill made from the bark of a tree dating back to the Garden of Eden (just go with it). When the Lilith instincts take over, she glows and then turns solid black and has claws. When David's character starts killing people, the Faith recruit her to stop him.

Ok, David is spending far too much of this movie as the demonicos thing. C'mon! We want to see his pretty face! And naked chest! Cater to us!

O.O I must have powers. We get more half-naked David, with injuries! That's a *massive* stomach wound, yo. Lots of dark blood. God, he's pretty.

Aww, so that's his brother he goes to to get fixed up. And they have family angst. David = black sheep of family. Dude, and now he kills his brother. Ouch.

Insert a lot of stuff about a massive virus/Red Plague. It's not very interesting.

David never buttons that shirt in this movie. This makes up for all the other badness.

*decides to test powers again* More human!shirtless!David, please!

In response, they let me hear a recording of his voice. For about 10 seconds. Bastards. *kicks malfunctioning powers*

Omg, he just showed up in human form again!!! With a CROSSBOW! *snuggles wonderful powers* And he's all roughed up and wearing all black and his shirt is hanging open...*is ded of the hotness*

David makes a great mad scientist. I've always wanted to be a mad scientist. We must be soulmates, heh.

Aw, dammit. Q pissed him off, which is sexy, but now he's gonna turn into the demon again. Dammit. And this time we didn't even get the half-naked writhing on the table.

Poor Richard. He mortally wounded. *is sad*

Wait, we get a flashback and now he's suddenly better. Still wounded, but not dead. Yay, and he killed evil!Q, and stole his serum stuff that will make him better. He get to live now. Yay.

Dude, the scene where Lilith turns into demony winged form too and they fight? Sooooo much badness with the CGI. It was like a cheap video game.

Dammit! She took his head off, and he didn't get to return to human form beforehand. And we all know that since the demon doesn't wear clothes, he so would have been naked after turning back. They have denied us naked David! I protest!

So now she's a hero. She'll go out and fight crime/evil/monsters/whatever in the name of the Faith. Well, huzzah. Stupid movie.

Ok, this movie? Pretty bad. But David was hot, Richard was hot, and...um...ok, so I totally watched it for the eye candy alone. Sue me.

For the last half of the movie, slashophile, qwirky, rosewildeirish, a few others, and I all did an AIM chat. That was a most fun way to enjoy a bad movie. *g*

Anyway, Darklight repeats tonight at 1 am, I think, if you missed it and want to see DH or RB hotness (despite the bad movie).

Abydos Gate just put up a ton of Boa vs Python pics, so the chances of them doing Darklight are pretty good. There are a few up on the DH mailing list, but they're not very good quality.
