castalia: (David Hewlett import)

The Sci-Fi Channel is now showing previews for Darklight, their new movie starring not only David Hewlett, but also Richard Burgi of The Sentinel. Plus John deLancie. It looks like Sci-Fi's usual fare, but omg, there's something in it worth any amount of cheese.

Shirtless David! He must be hiding something under McKay's clothes, b/c he looks quite good in this movie (from what I could tell in the few seconds of the preview, anyway). Kinda buff like we was in that Boa vs. Python thing I've heard was so cheesetastic. It looks like he has the longer hair again, too, which...yeah, guh.

I've been sitting through this stupid movie marathon on SFC trying to see the right preview - there are two, one that's a bit shorter and doesn't have David, and one with the yummy shirtless scene. They're showing the shorter one more often, annoyingly enough. Still, it's worth the wait, if you want to watch out for it.

Btw, Darklight premieres on Sci-Fi on September 18th.

Boa vs Python, you say? I might have to hunt this one down.

Yup, it was a Sci-Fi Channel production. I *think* it might be out on DVD, so you might get lucky there. Haven't seen it, but I've heard it's quite cheesy and everyone involved knew it *g*

::laugh:: There's nothing wrong with a good, cheesy film... unless it's a BAD, cheesy film (like House of the Dead, for example. I haven't seen it, but I've talked with someone that's in it, and he told me to not spend my money to see it in the movie theatre; I'm guessing it's bad) - I don't think there's anything as bad cheesy as Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (it's so bad it's painful), though.

Pardon my tangent! ::laugh::

Lol. Yeah, sometimes a marvelous cheesy B-movie is just the thing. They're entertaining, at least.

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter? *boggles*

Yup. Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter - it's just..... yeah, it's boggle-worthy. Basically Jesus is alive and well, and spends his time baptising young women at the beach. Until a couple of priests show up and tell him that they need his help to fight vampires.

It pretty much continues in that vein.... with a small break for a dance/music number. And an occasional crazy bearded guy in a bush.

I reccommend it, if for nothing less than the laugh factor. Watch for the clown car scene; you'll know it when you see it. :D

Yup. ANYthing goes... and most of it is painful. But amusing. It's one of those movies where you just sit there, boggle, and think 'WTF?'

Oh yeah, Jesus is singing and dancing his way through town... complete with back-up dancers (and a spiffy new hair cut)

Boa Vs. Python was released on DVD/video a couple weeks ago, I saw it at Blockbuster, so it should be pretty easy to find.

*makes note to find "Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter"* Jeeze, I'm such a junkie for cheesey movies. I willingly subject myself to repeated viewings of "House", because it is so the BEST WORST MOVIE EVER! Yes, I own it on DVD. Nice to know there are others like me. :)

Whee! Won't do my rep any good to be seen renting such a movie, but it's for David! A most worthy cause.

Must see this House movie one day...

*bad movie renter solidarity*

The best part about "House" is the random appearance of George Wendt. No, wait, it's the obviously fake demon swordfish. No, wait, it's the huge ghoul wife that gets decapitated. No, wait, it's zombie!Bull from "Night Court". No, wait...

Whee! I just went to Blockbuster and rented Boa vs. Python. I feel like my good-taste-in-films cred just took a huge blow. Still, David!

George Wendt? Demon swordfish? O.O

Oh yeah, baby.

The tag for the movie is: "Ding dong, you're dead"

Back home with my friends, general operating procedure for a weekend is go to Blockbuster and rent the worst movie we can find, typically from the foreign, horror or kung-fu categories (after debating for over an hour, of course), and then just MST the hell out of it. We're party animals, let me tell you.

The dance of Hewlett worship is inherently awkward and dorky, cuz dude, it's Hewlett. Especially since it incorporates a computer and a rubber boot.

Bwahaha! This is of the good, b/c even though I'm a musician, I have no physical rhythm, and any dancing I do will be inherently awkward and dorky.

*pets the rubber boot* Hee.
