This week's Atlantis spoilers...

GateWorld has new info on this week's ep, "Poisoning the Well", the one we Beckett fans are all looking forward to.
The first quote is from Paul McGillion's Starburst interview. I've ordered the mag, and when it arrives I promise to post some scans.
"One day on the set, Martin Wood, who directed 'Rising,' had mentioned to me that there was a big Beckett episode coming up. He suggested that I go have a chat with the writer, Damian Kindler, so I did. Damian and I talked about the story and my character, and when I received the script I was just blown away. Beckett has so much to do in it. He even has a love interest, so to speak. [me: noooooooo!]
"Out of all the episodes my character has been in, this one is by far the most dramatic. You get a strong sense of who Beckett is and the human side of him is really apparent. I think the passion of the Scots comes out. He has a big heart and can shed a tear as well." (Actor Paul McGillion ["Dr. Beckett"], in an interview with Starburst magazine [#314])
And from PDL:
"And that's a big episode for the Beckett character, the Scottish guy, Paul McGillion. Paul McGillion is great, by the way, and so is McKay. They're just hilarious together. Love those guys." (Director and consulting producer Peter DeLuise, in an interview with the Richard Dean Anderson Web Site)
The mention of the love interest is sucky, but this last quote, oh yes. It pleases me beyond comprehension that the producers, directors, and writers realize the sheer gold they've struck with the Beckett/McKay pairing. This bodes so well for their continued interaction, whee!
Omg, Friday, get here quick, dammit. I absolutely cannot wait for this episode. Especially not when my internal female bits are committing hari-kari and making me feel like utter shite. And now mum's cooking hamburger meat in here and ew, ick. Ick ick ick. That smell needs to not be here. Gonna go curl up into a ball until chat now...

Date: 2004-08-17 05:31 pm (UTC)Still, looking forward to the ep. And oooh, scans from that article would be great! I hear there's also something in there about how the relationship between Beckett and McKay is McGillion's favorite. :)

Date: 2004-08-17 05:37 pm (UTC)Yup, that's what I heard from a friend who has seen the mag. Can't wait to see that quote :) My copy should be here later this week or next week (depending on how fast the warehouse ships it, and the damn postal service), but I'll scan the article as soon as it arrives.

Date: 2004-08-17 05:42 pm (UTC)And aww, poor Carson will be angsty and Rodney can comfort him so I guess I don't mind that too much. Still, I know I'll be writing fic after that episode, and hopefully others will do the same and there will be lots of fic and I will be happy.

Date: 2004-08-17 05:45 pm (UTC)Yay, emotional hurt/comfort! I'm down with that. And Rodney can feel bad b/c he spent the ep jealous that Carson was paying attention to someone else, but secretly he's kinda glad she's out of the picture *eg*

Date: 2004-08-17 05:54 pm (UTC)And sorry to hear about the girly bits issues. My monthly Day O' Pain was last Friday, and sitting in front of the tube for two hours with a heating pad was a much better way to spend it than I usually do, even if the eps weren't so hot.

Date: 2004-08-17 06:01 pm (UTC)(And crossing my fingers that this posts. I've been trying to answer ancient comments for the past three hours or so and I've had four? five? that haven't been eaten. Stupid LJ.)

Date: 2004-08-17 06:05 pm (UTC)It let you post! I'm so glad. I hate that you're having all these 'puter problems, partially b/c it's so frustrating for you and partly b/c I miss you.
Does Damian Kindler have a bad track record with SG?

Date: 2004-08-17 06:39 pm (UTC)Argh, it's been an incredibly frustrating summer. I can't rely on LJ, I can't rely on IM, I can't even rely on email, I can't keep in touch with anyone, and I miss you too! :( But supposedly my hick ISP is going to have their issues straightened by the end of the month (hahahahahaha) and well, who can ever tell with LJ itself. Fingers crossed, I guess.
Damian Kindler, eh. I'm sure he has fans, but I'm not really one. He showed up during season 6, which is a check against him in my book (hardly his fault, but I'm not paid to be unbiased *g*). He did write "Fragile Balance," the one with teen clone!Jack, so that's a plus (I tend to give all credit to Michael Welch, though). But he also wrote clunkers like "The Other Guys" and "Space Race". Some of his eps I've heard good things about but haven't seen, like "Chimera" and "Evolution," so who knows, I might change my mind. Maybe after I see all of season 7.
Oh, and I love all your new icons! Heeee. Yay for the cute, snarky geeks!

Date: 2004-08-17 06:53 pm (UTC)I know you must feel really cut off. Here's hoping that ISP will get the bugs worked out soon.
Ew, he was responsible for the drek that was "Space Race"? Ugh. But Evolution was ok, and this new Atlantis ep should be serious. Weird.
Thanks! I've been photoshopping like a mad thing. They're just too cute and inspiring :)
