Sucky Dead Zone and my first icon theft.

Well, tonight's Dead Zone not only sucked, but it pissed me off.



Why, why, *why* did they have to go and do that to Walt's character? I love Walt, mostly b/c he's such a good guy. Now they have to include all this back story that dirties everything. Did they *have* to make him have an affair with a married woman, even if it was before Sarah? Does everyone have to have affairs? Sarah totally cheated on him with Johnny, and even though I'm glad he finally knows about it, is giving him this past trying to lessen her crime? Even the score? Dammit, I'm tired of shows that decide drama = infidelity. Is a little monogamy too much to ask? Can't just one character be truly a good person?

Ok, no more question marks this post, I swear.

In other annoying news, I'm having my first experience with icon theft. courtney_beth seems to have swiped my Kerry/Edwards icon without asking, and without giving credit. Now, it's not like it's this amazing icon, but I did work a while on it and the reason I made my own anyway was so I could have a unique icon to use in the johnxjohn community. Even so, if she'd asked, I probably would have said yeah, go ahead and use it.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do about it, if anything. It seems a small thing to get all up in arms about, but you know, a little courtesy doesn't hurt. I'm immensely tired of this sense of fannish entitlement that's so rampant on the net these days. Rudeness shouldn't be the cool "in" thing.

ETA: She's apologized and taken down the icon. Claims a friend gave it to her without saying where she got it. Possible, so I'm not gonna make any more of a fuss about it.

Yup, that's the one. I noticed when she commented to this thread (http://www.livejournal.com/community/johnxjohn/52864.html) with it.

Hm, I may take you up on that offer. Having someone else comment about it might be a good way to go about this.

If she'll credit me, I'd probably be willing to just let her have it and make myself a new one.

Looks like the situation is under control. I had the same thing happen to me. I was looking through a Sentinel community and noticed someone's icon and then said "hey, I didn't know I gave her that one. Umm, I didn't and I poiinted that out to her. She asked for all the ones afterwords, but it"s the principle of the thing, you know?

Yup, it's all cleared up. And yeah, it is the principle of the thing. One would think it would be a given to ask for something before you swipe it.

If that ever happens to me I'll photoshop the icon onto the side of a milk carton, replace the word 'missing' with 'stolen' and reply to all their posts with it LOL.

Lol! Love the idea. Reminds me of tactics used when people steal bandwidth and graphics - the owners replace the images with banners and such that announce "I stole this icon" or a similar message. Sometimes they even replace it with porn :)
