Will be leaving very early tomorrow morning, so I leave you with another bunch of vid recommendations. I knew I'd forgotten some, so add these to the ones I posted recently.
In no particular order:
Strange Things by KOBA-TV - Very amusing Scorpius vid.
Pinky and the Brain by Felar - Jack and Daniel as, well, Pinky and the Brain. The lip synching effects are most amusing.
Ability to Swing by Luminosity - Lum's vids are always full of wonderful effects, cool techniques, all the things that make a vid visually exciting to watch. Highlander is a fandom that has been vidded to death, but she manages to put a new spin on things. Wonderful timing here.
Superstar by here's luck - A really good vid can make you enjoy and believe things you normally wouldn't give a fig for. This is one of those for me. I don't care about the Faith/Buffy pairing, don't really like Faith at all (and sometimes Buffy, for that matter), but I love this vid. The song, the timing, the pacing...all wonderful. It's just mesmerizing to me.
Diana William's Vids - Diana rotates which vids are available for download, so just keep an eye on the site for something you like. She does lots of multi-fandom vids, and her Sherlock Holmes vid "Your Mistake" is a must-see.
I Would Die for You by PR Zed - Ok, this song is a bit sappy too, but hey, it's an I Spy vid! Truly a rare beast, so give it a shot.
You Wanted More by PR Zed - Very nice Boromir/Aragorn vid. Some call the song a bit too anachronistic, but I think it works.
Tempus Vernum by PR Zed - A short Hornblower vid, but one that packs a punch. Archie! *sniffle*
Moscow Drug Club by PR Zed - A new Man from UNCLE vid. Strange, very strange, but amusing as hell. Clever use of clips.
Gay Bar by PR Zed - Hee. Yeah, this one's a bit odd, too, but the song cracks me up. Warning (if you need one) for boy kissage and naked man butt.
You Don't Have to Play me Backwards by Morgan Dawn - I must confess to never having seen Wiseguy, but I love this vid. Oh, the angst...
Ordinary World by Morgan Dawn - Can't believe I forgot the Pros vids. There aren't many online, but Morgan has several good ones available. She focuses a lot on Bodie (yum), and I'm a sucker for the song. Very nicely done. Also check out "Looking for Myself".
Nine: The Fellowship by Uluviel - Not your usual LOTR vid, this one uses video and pics of the LOTR cast, almost like a type of "video yearbook" thing. A good look back at the behind-the-scenes moments, premieres, and other promotional shots, all highlighting the friendships shared by the cast members.
Goodnight, Hollywood Blvd. by Barkley - Sports Night vid! The only one on the net, to my knowledge. This one's a bit sad, but if you know the series you know it turns out ok in the end.
Little by Little by LithiumDoll - A great Professionals vid. Crisp editing, nice use of timing, and I love the quick edits at 2:54.
Fields of Marigold by LithiumDoll - Another Pros vid, this one mostly focused on the ep where Doyle is shot and has some sort of strange dream.
Don't Put it in Your Mouth by Amanda of The Chicago Loop - Another wonderful Due South humor vid. The song is perfect.
Five and a Half Minute Hallway by
cortese - Nicely done Archie-centric Hornblower vid. Stays true to canon, so not a happy ending; this one packs an emotional punch.
Closer by T. Jonesy and Killa - This one comes with a big warning on it. It's a constructed reality Star Trek vid with rape themes, a "pon farr gone wrong" situation. Definitely not a happy vid, but I'm going to rec it b/c it's so very well done. Constructed realities are difficult to pull off, but these two have succeeded brilliantly. The result is an intense, creepy story, something you don't expect from a ST vid, but they make you believe it. Technically, it's amazing - everything is in sepia tone, the editing is purposefully choppy, the picture shakes and jerks and blinks in and out, all adding to the nightmarish feel of the vid.
A Perfect Way by T. Jonesy - A Marx Brothers vid. No, really. Very cute, and some lovely timing in this one.
Spooky by Killa - I've never seen Jeremiah, but this vid got its story across very well; I never felt lost. Love the song, wish I could find an mp3 of it.
Because I Told You So by Killa - Another Jeremiah vid, Jeremiah/Kurdy slash. Sweet vid, cute song.
Bro Hymn by Kim and Cecilia - Another one from VividCon 2003. At first I was like, "Wtf? This song for LOTR?", but it grew on me. Very funny, especially the choices for the lyrics "especially those who weren't with us too long".
Freak No 1: Dance be my Destiny by Rob1 - A technical marvel, this one. Fast, amazing editing, all celebrating nearly every Freak of the Week on Smallville.
Vids by Keelywolf - Keely's vids are down for re-editing at the moment, but when she gets them back up be sure to check out her Man from UNCLE vids. "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know" is quite nice.
Interjections! by Carol S - A Stargate vid from last year's VividCon which never fails to crack me up. Carol has done quite a few vids using School House Rock songs, but I think this is my favorite. I've only just started to download stuff from this site, so once you get the password, look around a bit.
Out of My Mind by Carol S - Another Stargate vid, this time a serious one from Escapade 2003. Jack thinks about Ascended!Daniel; yeah, a bit melancholy, but considering Season 7, it's hopeful as well.
The Impression That I Get by Carol S - I had to include this one, b/c hey, an SG vid all about Major Davis! And a good one, to boot. I adore Major Davis; there should be more vids (and fic) about him.
Olivia by Dualbunny - Despite several recommendations, I've never gotten around to seeing The Last Unicorn. After watching this vid, however, I really must get to the video store to rent it. An altogether lovely vid, and I fell in love with the song instantly. The narrative is quite clear, and I wasn't lost as to what was going on even without knowing the story.
Fly High by Mittas - Sparrington vid set to mixed music from PotC. Some good timing in this one, a nice overview of the interaction b/w Jack and Norrington. Ends with a lovely Sparrington manip by the Theban Band.
Wildflower by Laila - Another Sparrington vid. I love the whimsical feel to this one. The song is adorable and there are some good ship/sailing related lyrics. Some overlong clips, but not too bad. Also check out "The Hours", a more serious Sparrington vid which makes use of even more TB manips and some artistic effects.
One last rec -
permetaform has compiled an amazing reference guide to vids and vidding. Links about equipment, how-to, and tons of recs.

Date: 2004-06-23 10:21 pm (UTC)"Superstar" blew me away the first time I saw it and continues to do so.
And "Freak #1." Wow. I don't care a fig for "Smallville," but some of the best vids come out of that ...
There's also a Xena one to "She Bangs" by JJ and the Video Vixen that you've got to see ...

Date: 2004-06-28 09:18 pm (UTC)I love the classic VCR-made vids, but one great thing about digital vidding is all the amazing visuals and effects being used by people who really know what they're doing.

Ooh, link please? It sounds familiar, but I can't seem to recall which site I saw it on.
