Having nothing to do today until 9pm chat, I decided to do some cooking. Lamb leg steak (yeah, I really like this stuff, you may have noticed), asparagus, baked potato, and corn on the cob. I also felt like dessert, and the bananas were on sale, so I made a banana pudding.

My mum has the greatest recipe in the world for banana pudding. It's light and creamy and just wonderful. Here's the recipe for anyone who wants to try it:

2 large packages of Jello vanilla instant pudding
8 oz. sour cream
5 cups milk
16 oz. Cool Whip
Bananas
Vanilla wafers

Mix pudding, milk, sour cream and half of the Cool Whip, until creamy. Layer wafers, pudding, and bananas in a suitable dish (two layers usually does it, wafers first, then pudding, then bananas). Top with rest of Cool Whip.

Note: If using regular pudding, use 2% milk. If you use the sugar-free pudding, you can use skim milk.

Also, this makes a *huge* recipe. Unless you're making a dessert for quite a few people, halve the recipe.

If it weren't for the top of the list, I'd feel like I deserved to have my geek creds taken away. I must say I'm surprised at some of the things on this list. I haven't read TV Guide's reasons for what made the cut, but some of these don't seem like cult shows, at least not by fandom standards. Oh well, YMMV.

Hee. Yesterday's Word-of-the-Day at [livejournal.com profile] wordsmith_daily was dernier cri, which of course made me think of Bertie. "Well, it's the absolute dernier cri, Gussie. As cris go it's about as dernier as you can get."

You're turning into quite the little gourmet, aren't you? I remember when you couldn't even make a grilled cheese! :P

Wot? You didn't watch Pee-Wee religiously? Oh, Cas, you missed out on a particularly keen bit of childhood trauma.

You're capabilities in the kitchen are always so impressive. I've gotten even worse and won't bother with anything that can't be made in the toaster.

Isn't it goosie-goosie-goo? (Or something to that effect. ;p)

Oh, I saw it. I just didn't like it, particularly the voice. *shudders* Oh, the things they came out with back in the day...

I'm quite flattered that you think I'm capable in the kitchen. I've only gotten more proficient in the last year, and I'm still learning the basics. I certainly have to ask mum for help a lot :)

Toasters are marvelous things, I agree. And frozen fries. I make those often.

I think the one with "goosie-goosie-goo" was the second song, the one with "intellectual content" (hee). The first one, the dernier cri one, was...the one that said "tweet tweet, shush shush" or something like that. Don't recall the title, but it was cute :)
