Eeeeee is for Everwood!

Well, tonight's ep was nothing terrible dramatic as a whole, but there were all these little bits, part of a larger arc this season, which were awesome. And the previews for next week!!!
I spent much of tonight's ep feeling sorry for poor Harold and being pissed off on his behalf. The writers haven't been at all kind to him this season. First they attacked his role as a good father, and now his professional life is under threat as well. I'm feeling quite a bit of resentment towards Linda, who breezed in, let Harold take risks for her, and leaves just as the shit really starts to hit the fan.
I hate it when Rose's parents visit. Carol does nothing but snark at Harold, rather viciously, and apart from that one time, Rose has done nothing to defend him. Harold seemed so very alone in this ep. He and Bright were doing so well, I hated to see them falter again when Bright didn't want to go to graduation. Luckily, they were ok again by the end of the ep, but that phone call from the last insurance company ruined the slight happy vibe I was getting.
Surprisingly, I went an entire episode without being too annoyed by Ephram, Amy, or Nina. Wow. Truly a momentous occasion. I'm very glad Amy went along to the audition, as Ephram is a wuss of the first order and would have chickened out yet again. Also, I'm glad they didn't actually get together; I think it's still too early for that. Give it another year or two, kids.
Huzzah for Andy having a successful surgery!
Now, the teaser for next week's episode...omgsquee! I'm so glad I've been upspoiled for most of this season. Guess who's going to be shacking up with Andy? ;) Andy and Harold, working together in one doctors' office? Oh yes, dreams do come true. I can't wait to see what they do with this.
The other hinted-at plotline...ugh. So, Madison's pregnant? Yippee-ki-yi-yay. But what's this shit about "Ephram is not to know" from Andy? WTF? If this is another example of "let the girl deal with it b/c the guy has too many options and a bright future ahead and this would only ruin it", then I'm going to put a brick through the tv. If they do the abortion cop-out, then I'll put another brick through the tv. For once, could we see someone take some responsibility for their actions?
Or, alternatively, I could be appeased by some docslash snoggage. Everything would be all better, then.
In other news, today was dissection day for my 4th-grade reading group. I brought my kit and some diagrams, and we cut up the perch and two clams. Reactions from the kids alternated between "ewwwww!" and "cooooooool!". Hee. Like most kids, they mutilated the poor fish once we had located all the organs and I had given them relatively free rein. They cut out the heart, poked out an eye, cut the tail off, and compeletely dismembered one of the clams. It was lots of fun :) Well worth my $12.
Only three weeks left until school's out. Still doing the job search thing in anticipation of summer. I hate job hunting, as the market really sucks around here. Just once I'd like to have a good-paying summer job that's not factory or restaurant work.

Date: 2004-05-03 08:53 pm (UTC)I hate job hunting too. Are there any agencies? Sometimes they located the riper stuff.

Date: 2004-05-04 09:23 pm (UTC)Yeah, there are plenty of temp and other agencies around here. I suppose I'll just have to try them out.
I think I've been converted...
I haven't watched it long enough to know that Eprham and Amy need more time before they get together; I was horribly disappointed last night because I always love a good love story ;)
And the spoilers for next week -- I was pretty ticked off with the "Eprham" is not to know about it too, and if it ends up being something like you forecast, it might cure my Everwood obsession before it has a chance to really take hold. I hope not, though, because I'm quite enjoying it right now :)
Awww, your kids sound like fun ;)
Just once I'd like to have a good-paying summer job that's not factory or restaurant work.
*sigh* I know the feeling. I've given in to the thrills of waitressing, though, for the summer, in hopes of actually making some money... I've never worked in a restaurant before, so we'll see how it goes ;)

Date: 2004-05-04 09:27 pm (UTC)So this will be your first time working in a restaurant? Good luck :) I've never waitressed, but I worked back in the kitchens, and it's pretty stressful.

Date: 2004-05-04 06:17 am (UTC)Maybe the Madison thing is.. that she had a miscarriage? If so, should Ephram be told, would that just make everything worse? They already addressed the abortion debate, and wonderfully well (I mean, because of Harold). Looks like a cliffhanger coming up for the summer.
Hmm...I think I'll make an Everwood entry in m LJ today.

Date: 2004-05-04 09:32 pm (UTC)Is *that* what he said! I was too busy squeeing and missed it! Oh, that makes it even better! [squees some more]
The miscarriage idea is interesting. You're right, since they've already done the abortion issue, it seems like another storyline would be better than just rehashing everything.
Off to read your EW entry...
