I just remembered we never discussed what the topic for discussion would be for the Jeeves chat next week. If indeed we need a specific topic.

Soo, how does Carry On, Jeeves work for everyone? It contains the early Jeeves short stories, some dashed funny tales. Do all of you have a copy on hand? If not, I submit Very Good, Jeeves as an alternative. More short stories, 'natch :)

Ok, it looks like that one is the winner. Some of my favorite short stories are in that one :)

I don't have either, but I'll see if the library carries those.

Ok, let us know if you can't find them. I think you can find some of those same short stories in a volume called Enter, Jeeves.

Shoot - I forgot to go to the library after class. I just put it on hold for me via the online system, so with any luck it will be ready tomorrow morning. When is the Jeeves chat? This Thursday? A week from Thursday?

It's next Thursday, a week from tomorrow. That should be enough time for you to read it, right? The short stories go pretty fast.

Should be, but I'm carrying 25 units, and I'm a bit behind on my required reading after having been out of town the first weekend (if I'm not caught up by Sunday, I'm dropping a class). If it's just short stories, I'll be sure to have at least some of them read. In any event, I will definitely come to the Jeeves chat no matter how much I got read. :)

Wow, that's quite a load. Even if you don't get to them, you know how these chats go. We'll discuss them for a bit and then digress to other things :)

Sounds splendid. I don't have either book, but I've got that short story omnibus out from the library still and I'll look up which ones to read. :) I'm very much looking forward to reading about the angry swan again. ;p

Ok, good! If you need one, I can post a list of which short stories are in Carry On, Jeeves.

I'm very much looking forward to reading about the angry swan again. ;p

Me too! This should help that awful Bertie-less feeling go away :)

Thanks, dear. The hatsharpening site has them listed, so I'm a-OK. :)

I think I'm going to read the swan one first. ;p Er, now that I think about it, I think that one's in Very Good, Jeeves--thus: all the stories go mush in the brain--eh, whate'er; I'll read it anyway. ;p I hope your Bertieless pining eases...I've gone a little stretch without him myself and am none the better for it.

Ah, good. That site is truly a godsend.

Good choice! I love Bertie's narration of the bit where the swan attacks. So very hilarious. Even when I'm physically without my Bertie and his narrations, I can just imagine the text in my head, or a moment in the series, and get my fix that way. It's nice to have so many of these things memorized :)

Ditto the site; lovely place.

I hit a roadblock and cannot recall which short story has the swan. Do you know the title? I'll search it in a sec, but figured I should ask. It was a hilarious one; I love how that story pops up in The Code when Bertie and Jeeves are faced with Stiffy's dog. ;) I know how you feel re Bertie and the narrations and pulling them up in the mind to get a fix. It's a nice way to lift the spirits in a particularly bad spot--esp. when you're out and don't have a book at hand. :)

In case you haven't looked it up already, it's "Jeeves and the Impending Doom", from Very Good, Jeeves. Filmer, the Cabinet Minister, and young Thom. Such fun.

Aha! That's the one. I knew I forgot to do something online today and it was looking up the title. ;) Well, the title has found me instead. Thanks. :)
