A chat addendum...

I just remembered we never discussed what the topic for discussion would be for the Jeeves chat next week. If indeed we need a specific topic.
Soo, how does Carry On, Jeeves work for everyone? It contains the early Jeeves short stories, some dashed funny tales. Do all of you have a copy on hand? If not, I submit Very Good, Jeeves as an alternative. More short stories, 'natch :)

Date: 2003-10-01 02:31 pm (UTC)I'm very much looking forward to reading about the angry swan again. ;p
Me too! This should help that awful Bertie-less feeling go away :)

Date: 2003-10-01 07:42 pm (UTC)I think I'm going to read the swan one first. ;p Er, now that I think about it, I think that one's in Very Good, Jeeves--thus: all the stories go mush in the brain--eh, whate'er; I'll read it anyway. ;p I hope your Bertieless pining eases...I've gone a little stretch without him myself and am none the better for it.

Date: 2003-10-03 12:07 am (UTC)Good choice! I love Bertie's narration of the bit where the swan attacks. So very hilarious. Even when I'm physically without my Bertie and his narrations, I can just imagine the text in my head, or a moment in the series, and get my fix that way. It's nice to have so many of these things memorized :)

Date: 2003-10-06 10:31 am (UTC)I hit a roadblock and cannot recall which short story has the swan. Do you know the title? I'll search it in a sec, but figured I should ask. It was a hilarious one; I love how that story pops up in The Code when Bertie and Jeeves are faced with Stiffy's dog. ;) I know how you feel re Bertie and the narrations and pulling them up in the mind to get a fix. It's a nice way to lift the spirits in a particularly bad spot--esp. when you're out and don't have a book at hand. :)
