Another Sunday, another marathon nap. I'm feeling a bit wiped out this weekend. Last night, I was a chaperone (me! a chaperone! Imagine...) for the EYC (Episcopal Youth Community, a youth group, in other words) lock-in. The Farlows are the sponsors this year, so I'm helping out occasionally. We went bowling (a game at which I suck, but I did manage to almost break 100 in the first game, with a 99, and we had fun), then retired back to St. Luke's for pizza. I played Uno with some of the guys (earning the sobriquet Dr. Evil, heh) until around 3:30, at which point I was too sleepy and went home. So yeah, tired today, but it was fun. Also, the Fraction went much better this morning.

Am so very close to finishing Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves, without any new Jeeves novels in my possession. I want to start on The Mating Season next, but first I have to find a copy, and then there are so many things I want to read on the list as well. Patrick O'Brian and Terry Pratchett are at the top of that list, as is a new interest thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tiamatschild. Like I need a new obsession :P

Here's that Favorite Icons of Friends meme that's been going around. These were hard; you all have such cool icons! I'm putting them all in one post, and hoping I don't break anything.

[livejournal.com profile] afrai - This pairing was a joke that turned into a rather beautiful snippet. The icon never fails to crack me up. Her Marvin the Robot icon comes in a close second.

[livejournal.com profile] amedia - Guh. Pretty.

Also - b/c hey, rare fandoms!

[livejournal.com profile] auralynn - More guh. From that lovely barn scene in Maze of the Minotaur, which I now want to go watch.

[livejournal.com profile] bonibaru - She has so many pretty icons, but Draco's face in this one cracks me up. Plus, gay pants!

[livejournal.com profile] carmarthen - I made one similar to this for [livejournal.com profile] ealgylden, so Jack/Black Pearl has a special place in my affections. Anthropomorfic!

[livejournal.com profile] ceruleanblue3 - Ship. Pretty.

Also - Hitchhiker, Arthur, towels!

[livejournal.com profile] chanale - I like watching this one.

[livejournal.com profile] chickenfeet2003 - I don't quite know what this is, but I like it.

[livejournal.com profile] cimmerianwillow - Horatio and Archie. Her own artwork. Too pretty.

[livejournal.com profile] daegaer - Pissed!Aziraphale! I just love this one.

Also - Lawrence and Ali are adorable, and I love the caption.

[livejournal.com profile] debchan - Sauron, caption, hee!

Also - because, pretty Alan. Great caption.

[livejournal.com profile] declineandfall - Cowgirl! One thing I've always wanted to be. It's just a cool icon.

[livejournal.com profile] deludedvision - Cuteness.

[livejournal.com profile] dreamplum - Pretty butterfly. I like the pretty ones, it seems.

[livejournal.com profile] ealgylden - Gay pants! Bertie and Jeeves! (I'd say I loved the ship icon, and the two PotC ones, but I made them :)

[livejournal.com profile] elke_tanzer - Errol as Captain Blood. Guh. Pretty.

[livejournal.com profile] elynross - Penguin! Cuteness!

Also - Penguin *and* gay pants.

[livejournal.com profile] goldatamera - Not my fandom, but it's cute.

[livejournal.com profile] kathlaw - The real life Lawrence of Arabia. Very cool.

[livejournal.com profile] kimberlyfdr - Starsky and Hutch gay pants!

Also - (even though I made it, I love the pic).

[livejournal.com profile] krzykat - (cute use of dollz; besides, I made the others...)

[livejournal.com profile] lanning - This one was so hard, b/c she has so many great icons, but this one has always cracked me up. I love it.

Also - because, frog! I love frogs. (and also the Smallville gay pants, and the fannish monk, and the penguin, and the one with Lex and Jiminy!)

[livejournal.com profile] linnpuzzle - Truly a gorgeous icon. And pretty Daniel!

Also - because, Crowly and Aziraphale! What looks like bare demon butt...hee!

[livejournal.com profile] merryish - Cool shark!

Also - I'm not into popslash, but it's just a cute icon :)

[livejournal.com profile] mijitarica - Pretty, pretty ship. I love the colors.

[livejournal.com profile] rosabuddatchery - Fuschia Groan, from the Gormenghast novels. Very very cool.

[livejournal.com profile] sabine101 - Ron Livingston. Guh, pretty.

[livejournal.com profile] sensefille - One of the coolest Jeeves icons I've seen.

[livejournal.com profile] settiai - Very nicely done Griffin from LXG. Love the colors.

[livejournal.com profile] shiva113 - Easy, as it's the only one she has :)

[livejournal.com profile] shrift - Dan! And it uses a quote from the series. Much love.

[livejournal.com profile] skutir - Muppets! Love it.

[livejournal.com profile] tiamatschild - I don't even know who this is, but I like the icon.

[livejournal.com profile] tieleen - I made it, but...Harold!

[livejournal.com profile] tsiankiio - Another muppet icon! Dr. Honeydew, adorable. Funny caption, too.

[livejournal.com profile] viola_cesario - Bertie and Jeeves at the piano, and lines from one of my favorite songs. Brilliant!

[livejournal.com profile] wemblee - Yet another muppet (I'm sensing a trend), this time a Fraggle. Too cute.

[livejournal.com profile] writerlibrarian - A Lanning creation, and such a pretty icon.

Whew, all done. That was fun, a lot of work, but fun :) Some difficult decisions, too, with so many great icons (as evidenced by the fact that I couldn't narrow myself to just one icon with some of you).

And I love it, too;) Gay Pants and Boys Kissing...it doesn't get any better than that.

Perfectly put! And with these two, we get so much of both :)

How kewl!

LOL, so yeah I was using ones you made, except for my little doll. Now I just have a bunch of pretty men--- though think Roy in sheets will be used the most. :)

All the icons were very kewl and interesting. :)

Ah, all new icons! Very pretty. Who are these guys, pray tell?

Since LJ only allows me to have 3 set at the moment, I have two of Roy Dupuis. He's a French Canadian actor who was Michael in La Femme Nikita. The other 'pretty boy' is Colin Farrell. :)

Isn't it nice? I had the pictures and figured out how to resize them so I could use them. Ok so I had to search for Roy, but it was well worth it. :)

You've done a good job! Be careful, making icons is so very addicting, and can eat up your time without you realizing it :)

Who me?

I do a pretty good job of avoiding addictions or obsessions. Right now I really like my 3 icons, though if I get bored I'll probably do some more. Can't really see me getting tired of Roy in those blue sheets though. :)

99 is a lot better than I usually do! :)

That meme was very cute.

I almost never go bowling, so this was mostly luck. And I seemed to get worse as I went along! Unfair, that.

It was fun, but it also made me kinda glad my friends list isn't too large :)

See, I don't know a jolly thing about bowling, so to me 99 is a fab score. ;p I'm glad you had a nice time at the lock-in; it sounds like a lot of fun. :) (Also, good job on the Fraction going better...rah, recuperation!)

And, sigh, soon no Jeeves left, what? Frightful, m'dear...well, that's when you must turn to rereads.

Cool list of icons; interesting to see what kinds of icons everyone has. :) As an ever so teensy aside, the Peake icon is an illustration of Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland--she does have a Fuchsia quality though. :)

Thanks! It seems I've become quite the adult role model, odd as it may be :)

Yes, only two books left. It's sad, but as you say, there are the lovely rereads. Thank goodness.

Ah, oops! I knew that, I know I did. Oh well, at least I got the artist right :)

Not odd at all; you're a pillar of human decency and what's-its. :)

I feel myself breaking down for another reread...you can't avoid their lure for too long and every reread is just as fresh as the first time round. Really says a lot of PGW.

No prob. :) His drawings/paitings are sublime--so. much. talent. gosh. What I find upsetting is the total lack of Peakian drawings up on the 'net. I mean, come on, where are we supposed to find these things? It's not like they're in every freaking bookshop.

Heh. I'm a pillar. Of what's-its. This pleases and amuses me :)

Reread! Reread!

It seems to be nigh on impossible to find much of *anything* of Peake's. For someone so talented, his works are dashed obscure. I only own the Gormenghast books, but I'd love to find more of his stuff.

Of course you needed a new obsession. Everyone can always do with a new obsession! Especially if it involves sweeping fantasy history and adorable young kings!

The young man in the icon is Wilfred Owen, the WWI poet. He's the one who was so obviously and openly in love with Siegfried Sassoon. *bounces*

You are, of course, correct about this. One can *always* do with a new obsession, especially a slash obsession. I thank you :)

Oh, cool! That makes the icon even more nifty.

I love these icons! Actually, I lust these icons. 'Specially all the gay pants. :-)

And the one about "that silent sea"... ooh. Shivers. Not "shiver me timbers" - it isn't talk-like-pirate day any more. [G] Just a cool creepy-lovely feeling.

I have to shout out to [livejournal.com profile] gblvr, who made that Legolas/Gimli icon for me. I did the "odd little fandoms" one my very own self. Because dude, we're here and we're weird!

Lusting icons is good. I lust them too :)

Isn't that one just the coolest? The caption, the colors, the pretty ship...*sigh* I love.

Such a pretty L/G icon. That pairing needs all the advertisement we can give it :) And hurrah for odd little fandoms! We may be *really* obscure, but we're still cool as all hell.

writerlibrarian: (A Lanning exclusive icon)
From: [personal profile] writerlibrarian
LJ icons I think show so much of the personality of the owner. I find that I rotate my icons a lot more now than at the beginning.

I also found I'm addicted to Lanning's icons (I have three LOL). I just loooooove my two medieval ones she made. The unicorn being my all time favorite.

Great meme btw.

hugs

Oh, I agree. I recognize a lot of people just by their icons. And I tend to switch out icons quite often these days. Love the things :)

Lanning finds the most beautiful pictures for icons. She's got such a great eye.

Thanks :)

well....

I would have more icons, but I haven't had enough time or energy to make any... and the one I have is from Kate anyway. :-)

But thanks for putting me in the list!!!

Ah, I thought that was one of Kate's creations. Pretty! I used the one she made me for Deb U as an icon for a while.

I love to make icons, so if you ever have a request, feel free to ask :)

Hwee! I made [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's icon. The quote is from Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which makes me mad happy. They exchanged clothes and kissed like brothers and all. <333

Good job! I just love the quote, it suits them so well. I really feel the need to sit down and watch the movie now. I don't think I've ever seen it all the way through in one sitting. The shame...
