Well damn, you guys were right. I was sure that no way were they gonna be THAT obvious, nor were they gonna off one of the main legendary characters, but nope. They did. Poor Lancelot. From the season trailers I've seen it's certain he'll be back, but damn. Loved his quiet sacrifice and his scenes at the river with the Valia as well.

Still loving the knights. So many nice quiet moments between them all - Sir Leon and Arthur, Sir Elyan and Arthur, especially. Poor Gwaine has been relegated to comic relief lately, but I'm sure he'll have his moments later in the season. With Lancelot gone, that frees him up to be Merlin's confidant and partner in mischief again.

Some better Gwen scenes in this ep, with her standing up to the council and everything. I'm kinda confused about her status, though. With her freedom around the castle and obviously being with Arthur, I had assumed he'd given her "free woman" status or whatever. But then they're still referring to her as a servant, so I don't even know. I wonder if she'll ever get to talk to her brother again on the show. Or to Merlin.

Slashdragon once again manipulates EVERYONE to get the outcome he wants. Heh. Glad to have him back. I like this mutual respect thing he and Merlin have going on now, though he must have some super secret special powers to show up mere seconds after Merlin calls him.

Merlin and Arthur scenes were all awesome yet again, and not even once did I want to yell at the screen or hit either of them. Impressive. Arthur was mopey as HELL when Merlin was gone and then his FACE when Merlin came back all healed. :D I love his face, omg.

Morgana was less cool this week, sadly. Why does she need Agravaine again? Just to give her reports about what's going on in the castle? I'm bored with Uncle Evil.

The wildren or whatever remain the most ridiculous monsters EVER. They are GIANT RODENTS. They are not going to be carnivores, damn it.

Ridiculousness aside, it's a pretty promising start to the season.

I haven't been following spoilers (or even thinking about how the episode's plot would be resolved) so I wasn't expecting Lancelot to die. I'm glad that it looks like he'll be back, it's sad to lose him so soon. Though I hope maybe another knight (Gwaine?) will find out about Merlin's magic soon, it's a bit less ridiculous when Merlin can be open about his magic now and then.
