11th Doctor, blah blah blah

Like I'm sure everyone has already heard, the BBC announced the casting of the 11th Doctor Who today.

Mostly, I'm disappointed that they cast such a young actor. Unknown doesn't mean untalented, but damn, he's younger than I am. This weirds me out.

After all the rumors of black actors being considered, I'm also disappointed we're getting yet another Pasty White Guy.

Mostly I'm not looking forward to all the inevitable Romances of the Week we're going to get now that a 900+ year-old character looks like a twenty-something. *sigh*

Damn, where did all my DW squee go? I guess it left with Donna.

I was so bummed when Donna left. She was the best companion of the new series. I never saw the old ones.

I haven't seen all of the old ones, but I do enjoy them. But I loved Martha and then I really loved Donna, and Donna's ending made me sad.

Oh, certainly. I'm not upset that Tennant is leaving (though I did like him a lot), but after all the spec I got too excited by the prospect of Paterson Joseph.

mmph. I'm fond of the "Tennant is the only Doctor" square. It's not as if there's ever been any other actors in the role.

As a lifelong DW fan, it's always about the character rather than the actor for me...but it's still weird when the Doctor is younger than me ;)
