So, did anyone else watch Crusoe?

All in all, I thought that wasn't bad. Both Crusoe and Friday are pretty, there are lots of cool gadgets, and the scenery is breathtaking.
So far I'm pleased with the relationship between Crusoe and Friday, and not only because they're totally slashable. There were some lovely little domestic scenes in their fancy treehouse and several moments of clutching and declarations of loyalty, etc. Friday is definitely more than a sidekick and more of a partner, not shy about telling Crusoe when he's being a moron. I also liked the line about the reason he answers to Friday - he's making fun of Crusoe for being unable to pronounce his real name. He's already the more interesting character of the two, IMO. They're not shying away from the fact that Friday is from a cannibalistic nation, nor are they ignoring the racial issues of the time, with most non-Crusoe characters dismissing Friday as a "savage". Crusoe isn't a perfect shining beacon of modern racial thought, either; while he praises Friday's ability to speak 12 languages and calls him "brother", he puts his foot in his mouth several times and offends Friday by implying he's a servant in one scene. It'll be a difficult balance to maintain, but I don't recall any scenes that made me facepalm or feel bad for the actor (Tongai Arnold Chirisa hasn't been in much else before this, but he should be. He has a lovely smile).
The bloodthirsty female pirate was a bit cringe worthy at times, but she's only in two eps so I guess I can live with it. I'll have to see more of Susannah, Crusoe's wife, before I can really get an impression of who she is. There really needs to be more women in this show, but other than the family back at home there probably won't be many.
Sam Neill plays the godfather to Crusoe's children and sort of uncle to Crusoe. So far I can't tell if he's meant to be a true good guy or if he'll turn out to be secretly evil. It's hard to tell with Sam Neill.
I didn't realize Sean Bean was in this! He's Crusoe's father, so for once possibly not a bad guy. He'll probably end up dead, though; I think we only saw him in flashbacks.
Speaking of, the flashbacks worked fine for me. It established some good back story without boring me and it avoided too much exposition on Crusoe's part.
So, yeah, I may continue watching this one. I'm not watching much new TV this season, but I like this. It's certainly different from anything else that's on right now.
