SGA can be summed up in one easy word: yawn.

Seriously, both this week's and last week's eps have bored me. The beginning scene with Ronon and Rodney was comedy gold, but the Alien rip-off plot just didn't engage me, despite Connor's presence as Michael. It's hard to root for the "heroes" when the so-called villian is so close to being justified in his craziness and megalomaniacy.

Besides, the monster bug thing reminded me of the monster from the 5th Doctor ep "The Caves of Androzani". Remember how silly that monster looked? This wasn't a much better example of a guy in a rubber suit.

Last week's SG-1 was a bit boring as well, though I liked what they were trying to say. Mostly I was just happy about the ending, especially the Sam/Vala hug. More of that, please. Also, thank you SO MUCH for having at least one AU where Sam was married to someone other than Jack.

Now, this week. I'm sure it's no secret that I've been waiting for The Shroud to air, hoping and praying TPTB wouldn't screw it up. And actually, I don't think they did.

Happily, they let the whole Daniel-becomes-a-Prior thing be Daniel's idea. His plan, his decision, his just-this-side-of-arrogant confidence. I was so afraid they'd take the cheap route and have Adria make him a Prior against his will, which wouldn't be nearly as interesting. Instead, we got a marvelous example of Daniel at his best, hare-brained schemes and gigantic doses of hubris and all. Plus we got JACK, which was a bonus.

The DaVinci Code crack at the beginning made me sporfle. Awesome. Now they just need to poke fun at Eragon for me.

Man, you just know Daniel was gritting his teeth every second, having to spout all that Origin stuff and "hallowed are the Ori" junk. But he managed to look hot even with the sickly Prior makeup on, something I would have thought impossible. His little "What took you guys so long??" made me giggle, as did Shank's difficulty falling down in that silly robe.

Speaking of those robes, which member of SG-1 took Daniel's robes off and put him in that jumpsuit? Prolly Vala, as turnabout is fair play.

Morena Baccarin remains a crap actress in this. Woe.

It wasn't a bad plan, but once again a member of SG-1 forgoes hard evidence in favor of the "But it's ME. You have to trust me." argument. Bless.

I missed Jack/Daniel scenes like these. Despite the wonky sound making Jack's voice rather high to the point of being a near alto, their banter was on pitch and I squeed through most of their scenes together. Daniel was so insistent Jack believe him simply b/c he's Daniel, while Jack remained fixated on how creepy Daniel looked.

Daniel: "Have I ever let you down? No, don't answer that. Have I ever let you down when it really mattered?"

Heeeeeeee. ♥

The little, I dunno, shimmy Shanks did in his seat when Jack asked how Daniel could know about the Mark 9 and Daniel answered "Hello! Merlin!" was almost too much, and then he did it again. *snicker*

It almost felt like we were back in early seasons, with Daniel sniping that it's a good plan except it all relies on the rest of them having faith in him. I was slightly surprised they didn't just say go ahead, sure, we'll do it. The plan they decided on still relied on Daniel telling the truth, but I was happy enough with the overall plotline that I accepted it pretty easily. Still, Daniel's insistence that of all people, he thought Jack would believe him...*happy sigh*

Jack: "Why? You of all people show know that I don't believe anything anybody says, even if I understand what they're talking about!"
Daniel: ...
Jack: *gets a "Wait..." look on his face*
Casta: *dies*

And Jack thinks Teal'c is better than a polygraph, at least when it comes to Daniel! ♥

Was completely unsurprised by the IOA's decision to off Daniel. Though how they thought anyone at the SGC would go along with it is beyond me.

I still don't 'ship them, but Vala sitting on Daniel's lap was too cute. Vala has a plan! Or rather, she plans to make a plan. She's even cleared her whole afternoon just for the occasion. I love Vala. She was the only one who might've gotten through to Daniel about the magnitude of what he was asking of them, of how big a leap of faith it was to allow him to risk the entire galaxy. Many kudos to CB once again.

Jack telling Woosley he can kill Daniel only over Jack's dead body was such a marvelous callback to Meridian.

Daniel was so petulant when Jack said the others were going to do the mission instead of Daniel. On top of his martyr complex, it seems he's picked up a little hero complex along the way. Or he still just feels responsible for the Ori threat and wants to be the one to fix it.

Jack: *cute look* "Trusting you!"
Daniel: "Oh, yes, I really feel the faith." *does that little shimmy thing again, perhaps Shanks' only recourse for body acting when he's strapped into a chair like that*

Very surprised SG-1 agreed to let Woolsey freeze Daniel in stasis, but perhaps either they didn't know or they anticipated Daniel's reaction to that. For a second I thought Daniel might kill Woolsey, but was glad to see that not happen. I was even more glad when Daniel beamed Jack aboard.

Daniel: "But as you probably figured out by now, I'm going to need you."
Jack: "You know, I was just thinking how much I missed being needed."

Loved Daniel insisting they couldn't do it without him, and Jack calling him on the arrogance. Daniel was right in the end, of course, but he still needs to be called on it. Lots of teamwork to finish the mission, although I wish Teal'c had gotten more to do.

Seeing Jack sitting by Daniel's bedside in the infirmary waiting for him to wake up was just like old times. Even better was the cute hair ruffle and the "Hey, sleepyhead." Oh, LOVE.

Daniel: *handwave*
Jack: *looks down* "What the hell was that?"
Daniel: "If I was Merlin, you would know."

Thoughts as to what Daniel would've done if he'd still had the powers? *g* I kind of wish Merlin wasn't able to wipe out all traces of himself, b/c Daniel with a few residual mental powers would be nifty. I miss Dr Darkside.

Aw, and another use of "sunshine" by Cameron. That's what, three times now? It's cute. I'm going to end up 'shipping the whole team, if they keep on like this.

Well, I was a bit surprised and disappointed that they wrapped up the Daniel-as-Prior arc (does that even count as an arc? Sheesh) so quickly, but as they pointed out, killing all the Ori doesn't stop the army of followers. I suppose we'll find out later if they really did wipe out the Ori or if they only got some of them, the weapon didn't work, etc.

I liked this one very much, especially having Jack back in such a large capacity. My SGA squee continues to diminish, but my SG-1 squee refuses to be stamped out. I still love my show. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the season, and to the two movies planned so far.

Now come on, people. Give me discussion this week! Pleeeeease? *looks cute*

Damn you. :is NOT downloading this damnit but secretly is:

And yes, ship the team. They're pretty. Just imagine this icon with Teal'c, Sam, Jack and Paul and we're good to go.
