Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

I just noticed that LJ has put little eyepatches on the username icons. Hee. Look: castalianspring - I have an eyepatch!

ETA: There's a nifty English-to-Pirate translator on the ITLAP website, for those who don't know a head from a halyard and want to pirate up their speech. New and improved!

Also changed by LJ: the posting button now reads "update Captain's log". And Frank the Goat is wearing a cute pirate outfit.

*sigh* If I had my way, I'd be watching Captain Blood and maybe even going out to the pub wearing piratical regalia. Alas, am stuck indoors writing about cuttlefish instead.

Hm. I wonder if anyone else in the department would object if I named the cuttles after famous pirates...

Initially, I couldn't discern what was on the username icons, then I saw the "Update Captain's Log" thing I figured it was Talk Like a Pirate Day, but now I know for certain.

I wonder if LJ is going to continue to celebrate these kinds of holidays..?

Probably. They usually dress Frank the Goat in outfits for various occasions, and there was something done on April Fools this year, I believe.
