Happy 4th!

Happy 4th to those of you back home! A few people here actually wished me the returns of the day, though I believe Nicole the post-doc and myself are the only two Americans at the SOS (and I didn't even meet her until a few weeks ago, sheesh. She's quite nice, though). Haven't really done anything special, and the usual monthly cramps are keeping me away from the pub tonight (sorry, even on pound-a-pint night I can't stomach a pub full of rowdy football watchers), but I'm making a nice meal now to sort of celebrate.
I had a rocket-shaped ice lolly earlier, does that count as my effort towards fireworks? Thought not.
Best way to celebrate today? Getting our literature reviews back - finally. I'm so absolutely thrilled about mine - both my markers gave me an A*! A-star, whee!!! My best mark of the year, and luckily it's for the piece of work that's worth the second highest amount of points. It feels nice to know that for all my flailing about and worrying over my work, my supervisor thinks I'm doing well and will have a good project. Whew.
