ROOT BEER!!!

Mother brought me root beer as a surprise. Two glorious bottles of authentic IBC root beer, all for me.

I drank one with dinner last night. It was beyond bliss. While I'll have the occasional Irn Bru or the fizzy blackcurrent drinks over here, at home the only carbonated beverage I ever indulged in was root beer. I'm such a sucker for sassafras. Sadly, root beer is not to be had in Wales. The health shop, Dimensions, has something they call root beer, but it doesn't taste right.

I'm saving the other bottle for a special occasion. Probably end of term or something, as that will signify the end of the taught part of the MSc and the beginning of the project phase.

I have the best mother ever!

ETA: Googling has led me to discover I can get IBC in the UK along with my other favorite, Barq's. However, omg expensive! *cries* And I know I'll fork over eventually.

Try Dandelion and Burdock. Not quite the same as root beer but in the same sort of space. Definitely available in Wales. Lowes in Cardiff make it.

Hm. I've seen that around in stores but haven't tried it. I will, however, give it a go.

You have more will then me. I try to save Black Cherry Soda (that I can only find in 4-pack bottles, locally) for a day and it never lasts. ;-)

I just know I'm going to give in and order a case of it. Expensive, but possibly good for my sanity?

I feel your pain. I am addicted to birch beer and that's not a southern thing. No stores carry it here, and I've only found one restaurant that serves it through their fountain machines. I'm hoping that [livejournal.com profile] keleos can bring some down from her neck of the woods for Bling!Fest.

Yep. Talked to Kel last night and she's going to bring me a selection of birch beers. I favor the red varieties, but it also comes in brown and clear. I'll post "taste test" reviews for ya. I'm rather surprised that you can find root beer at all overseas, as it is such an American drink.

Not rootbeer related
