What ho, everyone. I do hope this Independence Day finds you all happy, healthy, and just generally well.
I love the J&W community
indeedsir immensely and most of the new users on my friends list hail from there. So, welcome to
rosabuddatchery, another dashed cool Wodehouse fan :)
On a literary note, even though I'm feeling the Jeeves withdrawl I am enjoying Hugh's book, The Gun Seller rather a lot. He really has a wonderfully funny style, and if it weren't for the violence and language and general atmosphere, I could almost imagine Bertie was narrating.
Huh, just had an odd interuption while writing this. Some guy was at the door, selling something, and wanted to know if my mother was home. Now, I'm 22, and he looked about my age, so I wonder what it was about me that prevented him thinking this might be my house. Anyway.
I'm completely fascinated by the 13-ton, 40-foot long gray creature that recently washed ashore on the coast of Chile. It appears to be an invertebrate, but they haven't been able to identify the bally thing. There are theories of a type of deep-sea squid, an immense octopus, or perhaps something we haven't seen before. Evidently it matches the description of an animal washed ashore in 1896 which was also unidentified. I'm going to have to drop by the university and discuss this with my former invertebrate zoology professor. Just fascinating. Story found at the National Geographic News site.

Date: 2003-07-05 05:20 am (UTC)I keep seeing references that say he's working on a second book, but nothing concrete. There was also the possibility of a music album, but no news on that front either. Frustrating, b/c I'd buy pretty much anything the man does.

I'm glad to hear there's a prospect of another book and an album, at least.

Ha, this amused me. Maybe he would be the modern day Bertie, what with all the scrapes he gets into; though Bertie's would probably be a little less life threatening. I've been such a dork about that book though, I've had only forty pages left for nearly a week and I've yet to read them--plus, it took me weeks just to get that far. There's too much Jeeves overload; it's a good book and I do like it, I just can't focus and feel supremely rotten because it's just sitting there untouched. It's an unintentional reluctance.

Heh. True. While Bertie does receive the occasional threat of being pounded into a jelly, assassins and secret agents usually don't come into the picture. I understand about not finishing the book. I know when I've made a new discovery, the usual obsession that follows robs my focus makes me drop everything else. I'll eventually go back to my read-six-things-at-once mode, but it looks like I've settled into Wodehouse for the long haul.
