BSG will have a fall premiere next season.

Noooooo! WTF, October? They can't do that! I was counting on having my sci-fi friday fix this summer to get me through the thesis writing.

Wankers. Don't they realize it's far easier on people when you give them all three shows back-to-back on one night?

Watch as BSG's ratings go *poof*. At least they're not trying to premier it in a sweeps month. But November is gonna HURT.

A part of me is wondering if they're trying to make room for Doctor Who season 2, which I assume will finish its first run in Britain by late July, and could then possibly be shown over here...

...But since they haven't even started S1 yet, that's probably not the case. Nice to dream about, though.

*nods* Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. It'll have a hard time competing with certain mainstream primetime shows. Though I'm surprised the ratings are suffering now (ok, considering Black Market maybe I'm not...) when it's still getting such good reviews.

Being on Friday, I guess it won't be facing as much competition from the networks (Friday seems to be second only to Saturday nights for shows which don't do well, although part of that is caused by being scheduled on Friday nights, I'm sure...), but even so. Pain.

And yeah, I was pretty surprised to hear that the ratings had been slipping. Then again, they were airing stuff in February, which is a sweeps month, so don't they usually take a hit then anyway? *shrug*

Re: Black Market...I kind of think BSG might do better as a thirteen-episodes-a-season show, so we'd get fewer mistakes like BM. Last season seemed to be more consistently outstanding, although this one has had some stand-out episodes as well.

As much as I like having more episodes, you're right; they had a better record when there were only 13 in the season. I hate to point to Lee as a problem, b/c I think Jamie Bamber is a good enough actor to carry an ep on his own, but so far they've not given him very good writing to work with. BM was the lowest example of that and made me really miss the conflict he had when struggling b/w loyalty to Roslin vs the military. I'm hoping that having him under command pressure will yield better writing than the drek they gave us regarding his love interests, b/c yuck.

Actually, anything that doesn't happen during the busy summer convention season is a-okay with me. And I really hate to sit in and watch tv when it's still daylight out til 9 p.m. and I can be out playing, LOL.

It's not that so much as a premonition of BSG not being able to compete with the fall primetime lineup.

I download everything these days anyway so it's not as much of a deal when the eps actually air. But I'd hate to see the show die an early death b/c of scheduling issues.

What? There's something to watch on fall primetime? Where?

Heh, not for me there isn't. I'd hate to see BSG fail against the drek they're playing on other networks.

...That doesn't seem right. Or completely wise. The structure of my whole Friday will be askew. I wonder if they're then going to air the whole season along with the rest of the fall shows without the big, mean mid-season hiatus?

And I wonder what they're going to air with Stargate b/c SciFi Friday is the network's big draw..?

No idea, though some have wondered if Dr Who will be moved to that slot. I just don't like the idea of the Friday lineup being broken up like that. Schedule shuffling rarely boosts a series ratings.
