BWAHAHAHAHAA! The teaser killed me so very dead. Shanks and that silly little smile he's been sporting recently, Mitchell's reactions, the whistle! Dead.

Darth Vader!! And Teal'c said it so seriously like he really believes it's a part of history and Vala was so interested in what happened and I thought I'd die laughing. Brill!

So great to have Vala back. Despite her claims of him being all nice and gentle, I do find her hubby a simplistic asshat, but oh well. The whole impregnation by the Ori thing gives me Gabrielle-impregnated-by-Dahak flashbacks, and some spoilers on Gateworld make it sound even more like that b/c of *spoiler*reports that Vala's baby will be rapidly aged by the Ori to be their leader or summat*/spoiler* and we all remember how that turned out. Yikes. At least the baby isn't Daniel's.

*sigh* Negotiations with Colonel Chekov and no one called Major Davis? Not fair. I'm surprised they gave them a 304 without much of a fuss, but no way they were going to give up the gate and Chekov knew it. I wonder what the reaction of the Chinese government will be now that both the US and Russia screwed them over.

Mostly a long episode of exposition to get us to part 2 of season finale, but it was good and if you have to have an ep like this which is basically one character telling a story, Vala was the best choice for that. Claudia tells a damn good story. And now we have an invasion to look foward to. Those ships are uber cool looking though I wish the armor they gave the Ori army wasn't so blah.

I was on the edge of my seat again for part of this, no joke. Mostly b/c of Tyrol and his storyline, I'll admit. This show gives its secondary and tertiary characters meaty plotlines like few shows I've ever seen. The rest wasn't as engaging, but it wasn't bad either.

Dean Stockwell! As the oddest priest ever, omg! I really enjoyed this entire storyline and I love the Chief even more now, if that's possible. I look forward to the time when he meets downloaded!Boomer and it messes with his head even more b/c he'll still be in love with a Cylon but he can't deal with it as effortlessly as Helo.

Kara was back to her competent, kickass self and lo, it was good. And as a few people on my flist have pointed out, others should stop harping that no way does she love Anders b/c they had so little time together b/c according to last week's ep, they spent six weeks together. Not two days. Six weeks. Enough time for her to feel something for him. Their reunion was nicely low-key and cute. And I'm glad to see the redheaded chick from last week survived. I KNOW that actress from somewhere and it's driving me nuts that I can't remember. Her voice and mouth are so distinctive, yet it eludes me. Anyone know? I think she's an SG1 alumnus but the actual ep isn't coming to me.

The political stuff wasn't terribly exciting, but it wasn't boring either so I'm happy. Roslin and Adama are really very cute. I miss Billy, though.

I'm not very up on political debate etiquette, but that last debate seemed wrong to me. Baltar interrupted Roslin on a very important question and the moderator ended the debate without letting Roslin finish. She didn't get her allotted time to answer and then suddenly the debate was over and we find out it's the last debate before voting starts. That can't be right, surely there are rules that say you get to answer your question, especially when it's about the key issue in the election.

Gaeta in the locker room with his dorky little tattoo amused me. Oh, Felix. Dee continues to annoy, which saddens me b/c I so loved her character before.

Felt bad for the soldiers in Raptor 612. Jumping inside a mountain, ouch. I wonder how the physics of that would work, if they would displace enough rock to be stuck in there and end up suffocating or if they'd just fuse to the rock and be squashed into tons of pieces. /morbid

Letting the Cylons get the drop on them in the forest while they all had their hugs was kind of dumb. Not the most tense "to be continued" moment we've had, but I'm quite ready for next week to be here. Of course, then we have hiatus and a long wait until next season that's going to kill me. I so hate waiting.

I've been downloading Escapade vids like mad and have a huge post of vids (both from the con and from the past few months) to rec. So much quality stuff lately, hot damn.

Btw, where the hell is everyone this weekend? The internet is dead and there is so little Sci-Fi Friday commentary on my flist it's sad. Come on people, discuss! Dance for me! Do something. *pokes*

Oh my effing goddess I love Dean Stockwell. That priest was awesome. Totally not the man I would want around when having one of the crappier weeks of my life, but awesome.

Kara and Anders are very, very cute together. And Dee and Apollo just continue to be...weird to me. Like it's all an AU that will go away when I wake up. Or something.

ITA. I was completely unspoiled and my mouth dropped open when I saw him sitting there. I hope he comes back, b/c yes, awesome character.

Dee and Apollo...yeah. It came out of nowhere and is just senseless. I wish they'd give Lee something better to do, b/c he's just not as interesting when all he does is angst about women. I think I liked him better when he had more scenes with Roslin and such.

Absolutely! His relationship with Roslin was really fascinating and seemed to disappear off the radar once they all reunited on Kobol. At least when he's angsting about his relationship with his dad and where the hell his loyalties lay it seems a little more....I dunno, productive.

*nods* I don't think he's interacted with her much at all this season, which is disappointing. But yes, those issues you mentioned are infinitely more interesting than his male!angst.

That said, I really did love the scene where he took over command of the Pegasus. The moment of sheer terror and the way he took control and got it done. I love that he's a good military commander despite not wanting to be, and I'd like to see him deal with that instead of crazy "romances".

Sorry about the late comment. Weekends = party for me so I get really busy.

I wondered what your feelings were going to be on the Tyrol scenes. I was wondering if he was shooting heroin at first, LOL. I thought the whole bit was awfully contrived, just something the writers wanted to throw in as a red herring to plant a seed of suspicion that the Chief is a cylon. I did like all the nifty costume details we got to see up close when he was climbing over the railing in his dream, though. And Father Hypocrite, gag! I was expecting him to offer Tyrol a scientology audit at any moment.

Enjoyed the political bits, Baltar's lovely snarking and Laura's cut-throat true nature showing through. I just don't really understand the rescue mission to Caprica from a military sense standpoint. Far too much risk of personnel and equipment for what, twenty people?

Looking forward to your Escapade links.

So far I like what they're doing with Tyrol, mostly b/c I don't think they actually want us to think he might be a Cylon. I really think he's going to meet up with the new version of Galactica!Boomer and have some angst about it all. It did kind of come out of nowhere, but I can deal; at least they've giving him something to do again. And I must confess to liking the priest as well - his line about the gods lifting up those who lift up each other, I liked that. It was an interesting look at the religion of the Colonies, totally not what you'd expect.

Originally the people stranded on Caprica were a lot more, weren't they? Doesn't look like many are left, but at this point I assume they think even 50 people would be worth it.

The priest really annoyed me because it's a pet peeve of mind to hear people of some official position in a church (and this happens frequently in the more liberal British denominations, oddly enough) proclaiming that they "don't really believe in God, they're more a people person." That's just hypocrisy in my book. They should go be a car salesman where pushing something they don't really believe in is accepted practice.

Hm. I can see where you're coming from (that kind of hypocrisy is annoying), but I didn't personally get the impression he didn't believe in the Lords of Kobol. I think he does but that he thinks they're more impersonal, the kinds of gods who are going to sit back and leave them all to it without interference or even reassurance.
