Sci-Fi Friday, on a Monday.

Just brief thoughts today b/c apart from a few plot advancements like the weapon that kills ascended beings (if I were Daniel, I'd worry - there's finally something in the universe that could kill him permanently) and the Sodan being no more, not much else of actual substance. That didn't keep it from being a fun episode, however.
Sam and Mitchell are adorable. Loved his pestering, her indifference to it, the poking when they got dimension-shifted.
Sam and Daniel were adorkable. The wonder twins are back! That cute little smile/shrug thing they did together was quite possibly the cutest thing they've ever done together. Then more poking later on. And I loved Daniel's reaction to seeing Sam and having her be ok. The team is much better at those reactions these days, or perhaps it just seems that way b/c they have so much history now and are so comfortable with one another. The entire team dynamic of this ep was just so relaxed and all the different friendships really shone.
Dr Lee! Oh, Bill, you were given the greatest line ever. Miniaturization! Tiny feet! Never go away, Bill.
Shanks, I know you're only going with what the dialogue coaches give you, but please to stop saying "Merddyn" with a D sound in the middle? DD in Welsh is a soft "th" as in "that".
Mitchell's crush on Teal'c is a huge, obvious thing. Loved Teal'c's utter lack of surprise at Mitchell showing up at random.
If Tony Todd is the only Sodan left, does that mean Cam's (other) boyfriend is toast? He wasn't the zombie, was he? With all the makeup I had a hard time telling if we were supposed to recognize that guy or not.
Just the finale left now. I assume it's going to be all about Merlin and his weapon. And Vala will be back, yay!
Frakkin' awesome ep. I went into it unspoiled, knowing only that it was to be the Cylon POV episode, and I wasn't disappointed at all. I feel like I'd been waiting for this ep all season.
Loved the "rebirthing" pool with its Matrix-y feel to it. Loved getting more information about the Cylon models (more numbers! Very fitting that Sharon is 8 while D'anna is 3. I wonder who number one is, if they werea complete success or if they had to be "boxed"). Loved the idea that they have trouble adjusting to new bodies after being downloaded, especially after a traumatic end. And Caprica!Six having Baltar in her head! A very different Baltar from the one we know. So many versions of Six and Baltar and they're all in love with each other but the right versions never seem to get together.
Nice to see Galactica!Sharon again, so much the way we remember her but now so frakked up. Still loving her family back on Galactica. Still loving the Chief (and whoa, I want that pic of Tyrol. The one in the frame. Smokin' hot).
I know they can't show the other models on Caprica without giving away who they are, but it did seem silly to have all those Sixes, Sharons, D'annas, etc wandering around. And the stand-ins for Simon and Leoban we only saw from behind. C'mon, surely for the finale we'll get to find out who another Cylon model is.
Doc Cottle won his way back into my good graces this week.
I love that they named the baby Hera. Queen of the Gods indeed. Between that and Helo's comments about the Cylon god, the entire thing was steeped in some nicely complex religious overtones.
Tyrol and Helo releasing the ashes together. *sniff*
Letting Sharon and Helo believe the baby died was terribly cruel. I'm sure the adoption thing will come back to bite them in the asses, but I'm certainly curious to see where it all goes.
Anders was kinda inept for getting caught in his own explosion, but I'm sure Kara will be glad he didn't die.
They need to have Lucy Lawless back more often, is all I'm saying. She was fab as usual. I loved having the three female Cylons trapped together, acting off one another and presenting such different perspectives. You just don't get that anywhere else. I have to wonder what Caprica!Six (and I love that D'anna called her "Caprica" like that) and Sharon are planning to do. I want more about the entire Cylon infrastructure, their plans, how they recognize individuals like Caprica!Six and Sharon when they all look alike, etc. It's the first time I can remember being as interested in the "villians" of a series just as much or possibly more than the "heroes". Fabulous.
So, yeah, very happy with this week's Sci-Fi Friday. It helped make up for a really rotten Monday.

Date: 2006-02-28 04:56 am (UTC)I LOVE him being in her head! It raises all kinds of cool questions about exactly who is in Baltar's head (to say nothing of who is in Caprica's). We can't just say that the Number Six he sees is an illusion/delusion because she has been able to manifest an apparent physical presence visible to other crewmembers.. so presumably the Baltar in Caprica's head isn't just her memory of Baltar, either. But our Baltar isn't actively haunting Caprica, nor does the Caprica we met seem to be the one haunting Baltar... this is Just.So.Cool.

Date: 2006-02-28 11:47 am (UTC)Secondly, WTF???? I'm so lost on the plotline of Baltar and Six seeing each other's sockpuppets that I don't know what to think. All I really want is to watch those two in a porno film so I can enjoy them without hurting my brain.
Think Cottle saved up all his cigarette butts for the fake baby ashes? :-P I hate that the one coming up next is a 2-parter.

Date: 2006-02-28 12:02 pm (UTC)Hee. I love the sockpuppets. I love how the Six Baltar has in his head is all about vengeance now that the baby is "dead", but Caprica!Six wants to stop the war.
I hate that the one coming up next is a 2-parter.
Really? Why?
