Where is everyone today??? It's too early for bed and oh em gee, I'm totally bored. If giving you people musical pressies can't bring you out of the woodwork, I may resort to porn :P

Also, Gmail has moved their delete button and I can't seem to get used to it. It will probably be more efficient in the future as it avoids the drop-down box, but still. Change! I flail against it.

The evil week of chemistry is over (actually, the labs weren't bad at all, so I shouldn't complain) and I have a reading week next week. This will give me the opportunity to finish the even-more-evol benthos report. Ick.

Am making Mexican food for the other international students tomorrow. We're technically supposed to make food from our home countries, but since there isn't much that's truly American other than fast food, Mexican it is. Besides, it's common enough in the South, and I'm keeping the grits all to myself for now.

Mmm, Mexican food in Wales. Two of my favourite things.

I'm afraid it'll be pretty basic, just b/c of limited ingredients, but I'll be making stuff for tacos and/or enchiladas, dirty rice, and refried beans with various toppings. I also got my hands on some tortilla chips and cheese dip for appetizers.

I hereby revoke your Southern credentials. I prepared pulled pork bbq, speckled butter beans, fried potatoes and limeaid for dinner tonight.

But, but! I don't eat pork, and they eat their share of fried potatoes over here anyway so that wouldn't seem exotic. I thought about making breakfast, but I still haven't gotten a proper pastry blender so I can make decent biscuits. And it would prolly cost a lot to buy that much eggs and bacon.

*had grits and eggs with country gravy tonight, so claims back Southern creds*

Ok, I forgive you. Now what will you be cooking for the "Why is the rum gone" potluck at Bling!Fest ???? ;-)

Sea biscuits complete with weevils :P

Btw, just curious and I'm totally not looking at flight possibilities, oh no, what's the best place to fly into that's close to where you are?

Closest is Richmond (VA) International Airport. You may find a better price flying in to Washington, DC, but then you're 100+ plus miles away and we'd have to sort that out.

Yikes. Cheapest I've found so far is $830.

I'm guessing that high price was to Richmond. Did you try Reagan National Airport (DCA) to see if there's much of a difference?

I thought I was the only one doing teh stoopid with gmail's delete button. :-)

What is your favourite Mexican dish to make? The only things I've made are tacos because they come in packets.

Heh, glad to know it's not just me. *g*

My favorite Mexican to eat is Enchiladas Suisas, but I haven't actually tried making that yet. My Mexican cooking skills are still limited to tacos and tortilla wrap thingies. I've got a recipe for the Mexican white cheese sauce, though, which I may try tonight.

I didn't even know where the Gmail delete button was originally.

Ooh, BTW, have you watched V yet?

Dude, I am so sorry for not replying to this sooner! I've been able to watch most of V - it's really interesting! Noticed a few familiar faces in there as well.

Want to get together for coffee or something sometime soon? I can give the DVDs back to you. How are classes going?

Heya, no worries on the late reply. I always end up doing that with lj, haha.

My course is going really well. We've started work on our film and have even (mostly) sorted out the problem with the ancient cameras and the lack of money. :) How's your course going?

Coffee sounds good, when're you free? I'm good for tuesday but I'm in uni all day monday and have to deal with living arrangement issues on sunday.

Glad you sorted out all those problems. It seems like the departments here never have enough money for these things, despite all the tuition we pay. We're doing shellfish energetics right now, and I swear the equipment we have is all pasted together with blue tack and a prayer. Literally. We've gone through so much blue tack it's sad.

Other than that, the course is going well. Projects don't officially start until May, but I've gotten permission to come in and take over my share of the cuttlefish husbandry duties. I just finished cleaning the tanks and feeding them and checking temp and such. I think it's going to be fun :)

I'm in the lab all week from 9am until 5pm or so, but evenings are mostly free. I could probably make it on Tuesday. It would be a nice break from writing this report :)

Heya,

Blue tack, haha. Your course sounds like Blue Peter, a kids show over here where they make everything out of doublesided tape and the like.

A little hitch about the tuesday thing. I need to go to film auditions at six. It was seven originally so I figured there'd be time but everyone needs to turn up early to sort things. We could just make it another evening if that's cool with you?

S'ok. Another day will be fine. Just let me know what's good for you.

We lost several crabs today, mostly due to infection (before we even got them they'd been chucked into a bucket together and they fought, resulting in the loss of many limbs). So the experiments are going ok, but not without carnage.
