Gah! Got home after my nicely hellish work week (omg, am so tired), ended up having to run around this morning doing urgent errands, then came home after being up for over 24 hours and crashed. Slept 10 hours and now am FINALLY getting to watch my Sci-Fi Friday that I taped last night.

Having SG-1, 'lantis, and BSG back will so make up for working two jobs. *bounces*

The Sci-Fi Inside special: A nice hour's worth of squee! I like how they're emphasizing the new new new! aspect. I'm more excited about SG-1 than I've been in a long time.

The scene about Duet was hysterical. So Paul liked it a bit too much, eh? Hush, David, we've all seen you snog the hell out of Joel Bissonette, so you can't talk. ;P God, I can't wait for this ep.

Claudia Black cracks my shit up. She's just naturally funny (something I've never thought AT could pull off, sorry; she's just not funny to me) and a real riot to have on screen. Can we keep her? Please?

There's really no one I'm not psyched about this season. I'm on board with all the characters and am in love with most of them by this point.

SG-1 "Avalon"

Love love love the opening scene in the gateroom with Ben...er, Mitchell. The use of flashbacks scenes works well, I think. It gives us some background on the character without the use of tedious exposition.

Boy, those new titles are short. I miss the shiny long version, but these work. I notice BB has first billing, which is interesting.

General Landry seems ok so far. Cut from much the same cloth as Hammond, so no wonder Jack picked him.

*dies dies dies* Walter IS Radar. Blatant theft homage to MASH here, and I love it.

Gah! Everyone's really left. We'd heard that, but actually seeing it is weird. So without Jack they all just go off to do their own things? Huh.

Finally? Finally??? Why's Daniel in such a hurry to leave already? Oh, 'lantis. Heh, he's finally getting his chance. And he so doesn't care about Mitchell's little diatribe. Offer him his apartment, hee. *loves Daniel, the rude little bastard*

SG-me! *waits for that to appear on countless icons*

ETA: Omg! Cameron totally mentioned Major Davis being offworld with SG-7 trying to help with Jaffa negotiations, and I completely missed it the first time round. Paul got to go offworld! (Well, they didn't say so specifically, but they can't always bring the Jaffa to them, now can they? Surely it's rude if you never visit yourself.) *wants a guest-starring role this season, dammit*

Huh, so Cameron and Sam are not only on a first-name basis but seem pretty chummy? I like that. The guy needs a friend, and it's not like Daniel and Teal'c seem all that close to him. Respectful of what he did for them, yes, but not close.

Jack! Discussing interior decorating, heh. Playing chess, too - nice throwback to some earlier seasons.

...ugh. The linguist applicant hurts me. As do all the others. So the SGC has no qualified people with personalities that aren't bland and/or annoying? Doesn't exactly instill us with confidence when these are all we see.

VALA!! Hurrah! God, it's so cool to see Claudia and Ben on screen together in such a different setting.

"Where's my Daniel?" *dies more* God, I love their interaction. They need to keep it just like this, the crazy love-hate tension. Just don't make it anything else and it will work marvelously.

A "rather interesting if somewhat limited gene pool". The look between Daniel and Cameron. *is so dead* I knew they'd be commenting on that somehow, and I just love how they did. Heh. It almost would have worked better if Daniel hadn't had the beard, though. I like it, but not as much as clean-shaven Daniel.

OMG! Ancient Goa'uld slap bracelets! And they're linked now. God, this is such a classic fanfic cliché! What's next, Aliens Made Us Have Sex?

Daniel's trusting Dr Lee with a blade so close to his wrist? Geez. On the other hand, Dr Lee is sporting some longish (what's left of it, anyway) curly hair in the back. It's cute.

Wow. It's nice to see Teal'c at Daniel's bedside, but geez, isn't that the first time ever that Daniel's woken from injury/coma/near-death and Jack hasn't been the one sitting there? It's just...weird.

Pillow fight! I love these two. Vala really brings out some great stuff in Daniel. *g*

Aw, Daniel missed his boat. He looked so dejected, poor thing. He's just never getting to Atlantis.

"Let's make babies!" *dies* Such great timing in this one. SG-1's making me laugh again, I love it.

So Merlin was an Ancient. Nifty. And Cameron is fangirling Daniel's abilties a bit. S'cute!

The little promos that cue up the scene after commercials are nice. The different combos are nice to see, though I think the Daniel/Teal'c one is my favorite.

Is Shanks having a contest with Hewlett to see who can make their little exposition speeches the fastest? The man could be an auctioneer.

I'm enjoying the interaction b/w Daniel and Cameron, though I'm afraid of what fanfic horrors will be unleashed upon us what with Cameron crushing on Daniel so much. Vala picked it up, too: "Try playing hard to get."

Cameron's very touchy-feely, too. That's Ben, I suppose. He's clapping anyone and everyone on the shoulder. I half expect ass-slapping.

"I haven't been this disappointed since Daniel and I had sex..." *is still dead* The look on Daniel's face was priceless. He's all "Teal'c! Um, she's lying! But I'm a guy and there's nothing I can say that won't make me look unimpressive..."

Daniel's little reference to Oma's old candle thing...*snickers*

Love Teal'c playing with Cameron's head by shooting at the wall. No one smirks like Teal'c.

Aw, you can't leave it there! Dammit! Another whole week of nothing but work until I get more. *pouts*

SG: Atlantis

Omg, Ford! As much as I feel bad that we won't be getting Rainbow in as many eps, I'm interested to see what they'll be doing with his storyline.

Yay for Skinner saving Shep! And now they have a ZPM, of course, but that's not as important as Colonel Skinner ;P

Novak! Sans hiccups, thank goodness. And Hermiod! So we get a recurring Asgard character? Hell on the budget, but awesome!

*giggles at Rodney and his self-preservation*

Thor would let them deliver the weapon. Jack would just bat his eyes and Thor would snap to it.

*dies as Rodney acts all brave and then his clip falls out* Perfect, omg. And Teyla saves the day, whoo!

Aw, the Weir/Sheppard hug was cute. B/c yes, people would hug in this kind of situation. People hug more than we get to see on tv, dammit, guys included.

I'm glad Everett could apologize before he kicked the buckett. Though I'm not sure it did Shep much good, poor guy.

No one thought to check in the ocean for survivors before Shep made the suggestion? Dude.

And DUDE! Poor Ford. Interesting new info about the Wraith feeding process, though. So he's going to have to keep taking this enzyme stuff? I'm sure that will have some nifty side effects.

Harvesting the enzyme from dead Wraith? Awesome, Carson. You little ghoul. *g*

All that and now more hive ships? One bombardment after another, good lord. It'll be interesting to see how they pull this one off.

Hm, going on the offensive. I like.

Heh, poor Novak. She's going to have to ride herd on Hermiod constantly over this improper use of Asgard tech thing.

Ouch, Ford. Not so much the pretty boy anymore. The eye thing is kinda creepy, nice makeup job.

One thing about Atlantis I really like is how many women soldiers we get to see. A good half of the Daedalus crew are women - we never got to see that many on SG-1. This is more like BSG and I like it.

Damn, Ford! I feel bad for you, bucko, but don't you hurt Carson. Well, ok, if you must hurt him, at least always make sure Rodney is there.

Ow. I love that Ford didn't get what he wanted by threatening Carson, but by threatening a patient.

To break off into a shallow moment for a sec, Carson looks really hot this season. A nice balance of scruff, I think. Not too much, just enough.

Rodney's right. It is almost pretty. Props to the special effects dept.

Omg, was that Bates in the background showing some people the bandage on his head? Prolly not, b/c he was hurt pretty badly, so perhaps it's just wishful thinking. I don't think we'll get to see him much if at all this season, which saddens me. *sigh*

Ooh, niiiiiice explosion.

Ok, so for now their plan has worked. But the first time they go offworld and run into the Wraith? Unless they're dumb enough to think the Atlantis crew has established a new base somewhere, the city is toast again.

Battlestar Galactica

They've tweaked the opening a bit, but I like it. Shorter but still pretty.

And we finally get to hear Lee screaming. Man, Jamie does that well.

Adama/Tigh flashbacks!!!! Omg, with hair! *dies of love*

Tigh is so not suited for this kind of command. Oh boy, they're all frakked.

They lost the fleet??? Shit, what now?

Hey, what happened to the theme music?! This is different, and though it's pretty I like the other version so much better.

Gaius is completely gone over by now. He seems quite taken with the idea of this little family.

Poor Apollo, just a wee bit disillusioned now.

Ouch. I expected someone to volunteer to go back for the kit, but to order someone to do it alone as "punishment" for your own mistake? So not a good leadership move. Hurrah for Tyrol for making the better decision. *loves Tyrol*

The interaction b/w Helo and Starbuck is bucking most of the usual gender conventions in plots like this. Usually you'd see the female arguing that we should spare the Cylon, b/c they have a feeling about it, etc. Here we have the male in that role and the female in the more ruthlessly practical role. *loves*

"Bitch took my ride." Best line of the night!

Poor medic, suddenly responsible for the life of the beloved commander. Not a job I'd want.

Apollo giving his parole... *loves* Had Hornblower flashbacks there for a second.

Watching those Cylon raiders leave the Base Star is still an awesome sight. I hope they snag that Emmy for effects, b/c they totally deserve it. This show rivals many movies.

*dies of tension before they find the fleet* Whew! Gaeta needs a medal for that. So does the medic. And I need some tea.

Tigh can be such an ass and I'll hate him, but then he'll interact with Adama and I'm in love.

*whines as it's over* I hate waiting. The weekends are going to be the only good thing about my summer, it seems. Won't have time for much of anything else.

In other news, I got my hair cut today. The hairdresser did something a bit different this time, and I'm very much in love with it. Now I just have to learn to recreate it, oy. *buys hair gel type stuff for the first time, omg*

Really? Huh, I had no idea. Never knew what she looked like. You're right, she's cute! But you're perverted anyway and you know it ;)

*dies dies dies* Walter IS Radar. Blatant theft homage to MASH here, and I love it.

I love that too. The M*A*S*H-ness makes my geeky day. The "little Sgt. with psychic powers." Hee.

SG-me! *waits for that to appear on countless icons*

*Hides icon plans.*

A "rather interesting if somewhat limited gene pool". The look between Daniel and Cameron. *is so dead* I knew they'd be commenting on that somehow, and I just love how they did.

My sentiments exactly.

What's next, Aliens Made Us Have Sex?

So help me if they do an Aliens-Made-Us-Do-It episode, I'll die. Especially if it's on Atlantis. Between two males.

Aw, Daniel missed his boat. He looked so dejected, poor thing. He's just never getting to Atlantis.

Not sure how I'd like an actual, episodic SG-1/Atlantis crossover...

Is Shanks having a contest with Hewlett to see who can make their little exposition speeches the fastest? The man could be an auctioneer.

Shanks vs. Hewlett? Now that's a verbal debate I'd like to see...

"Teal'c! Um, she's lying! But I'm a guy and there's nothing I can say that won't make me look unimpressive..."

XD! I was waiting for him to say something to that...and Teal'c's look killed me.

Love Teal'c playing with Cameron's head by shooting at the wall. No one smirks like Teal'c.

Though you have to admit...Poor Cam. And his reply was very Jack-like, I noticed.

Novak! Sans hiccups, thank goodness.

Oddly enough I really like her. Not sure why...

*dies as Rodney acts all brave and then his clip falls out* Perfect, omg. And Teyla saves the day, whoo!

"I thought you were very brave." I thought that was very sweet of her.

I'm glad Everett could apologize before he kicked the buckett. Though I'm not sure it did Shep much good, poor guy.

Poor Shep. So much guilt, I'm sure.

Damn, Ford! I feel bad for you, bucko, but don't you hurt Carson. Well, ok, if you must hurt him, at least always make sure Rodney is there.

Poor Carson. But Rodney was right there to comfort him. =)

To break off into a shallow moment for a sec, Carson looks really hot this season. A nice balance of scruff, I think. Not too much, just enough.

Shallowness can be a good thing. And I concur muchly. =D

Rodney's right. It is almost pretty. Props to the special effects dept.

Rodney said pretty. Is nothing too gay for this show? I must ask. But it was pretty. *Pets special effects.*

Ok, so for now their plan has worked. But the first time they go offworld and run into the Wraith? Unless they're dumb enough to think the Atlantis crew has established a new base somewhere, the city is toast again.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But then...didn't they know we were trying to find an Alpha site?

Hey, the rate they're going it might be possible ;)

Not sure how I'd like an actual, episodic SG-1/Atlantis crossover...

I don't think we'll avoid one. They seem hell-bent on doing it. There have been rumors that Carter will be the first to cross over, though if Sam heads to Atlantis before Daniel after all his wanting to go and being thwarted, it will seem more than a tad unfair.

Shanks vs. Hewlett? Now that's a verbal debate I'd like to see...

Hee, so would I.

Mm, nope. Nothing is too gay for them.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But then...didn't they know we were trying to find an Alpha site?

True. I guess they'll be counting on that.

Daniel would cry, I know he would.

Didn't think so, honestly. And Danvers thought "quite nice, actually" was too gay. XD

That would be hysterical. *g* He'd be all "How COULD you?!"

*dies* I was thinking not so much gay as Canadian.

Yes, that would be the best explanation. I still prefer gay to Canadian in this case. In my heart gay AND Canadian is nice.

I'm so glad I have someone to squee over BSG with!

Adama/Tigh flashbacks!!!! Omg, with hair! *dies of love*

OMG scary!bad!hair . . . I really wish they would just cast younger actors with a resemblance to the principles when flashbacks like this are done.

Hey, what happened to the theme music?!

Yeah, it's gotten a bit maudlin, hasn't it? It's starting to sound like Xena singing at a funeral, but maybe that's laying the groundwork for the upcoming episode that Lucy Lawless will be in. ;-P

Gaius is completely gone over by now. He seems quite taken with the idea of this little family.

Those scenes were hilarious, with Six patiently explaining "You're the father, and I'm the mother, and this is our daughter." You'd think a scientist would have a better grasp on the basics of procreation.

Hurrah for Tyrol for making the better decision. *loves Tyrol*

Up until this episode, Tyrol just kind of annoyed me by being a stooge for Cylon!Boomer. But I was really impressed with his action here, even though tactically he allowed his little squad to blunder in oh-so-many ways at the crash site (sometimes being a hardcore wargamer just makes one throw things at the TV screen).

"Bitch took my ride." Best line of the night!

I think the best line of the night was Tigh telling Gaeta re:Baltar, "I trust you more than I trust that shifty son of a bitch."

Watching those Cylon raiders leave the Base Star is still an awesome sight. I hope they snag that Emmy for effects, b/c they totally deserve it. This show rivals many movies.

I concur. The battle scenes are the only time that Bill shuts up and watches the show without complaining, so I am doubly grateful for their artistry.

Tigh can be such an ass and I'll hate him, but then he'll interact with Adama and I'm in love.

Tigh has been a favorite character of mine from the beginning. I like how they are showing his character development by forcing him to look inside himself and flounder for a path during ever-escalating turmoil. He is being set up against a lot of strong characters like Roslyn, Starbuck and it will be interesting to see how things play out.

I'm looking forward to next week's Cylon shoot-em-up.

Hee, me too!

I so agree. Especially when the actors in question are older and flashing back so far makes it highly unlikely they'd look so craggy ;)

Yeah, it's gotten a bit maudlin, hasn't it? It's starting to sound like Xena singing at a funeral, but maybe that's laying the groundwork for the upcoming episode that Lucy Lawless will be in. ;-P

*snickers* Evidently this music is the UK version. I have to say I like the US music better, and the longer credits. They were just beautiful and I'm sorry to see them go.

Tyrol is my new TV boyfriend. It's nice that even not being a "main character" doesn't keep them from giving him screen time.

*nods* I'm very impressed with how well they're fleshing out even the recurring characters. You don't normally get this kind of complexity.

I'm looking forward to next week's Cylon shoot-em-up.

Ditto to that! So glad we get a full season this time, too. With their willingness to fill an episode with character-driven plot instead of the other way round, they'll have no trouble at all going at least several seasons.

Mm, I need more BSG icons. Plenty of room to fill up with the pretty.
