My guess is that they did, but there isn't a whole lot of food that can be easily carried along on an expedition like this. It tends to take up large amounts of space, and if you're not sure if you're going to find a place where you can preserve what you've brought, you're not going to want to bring more than a day or two worth of fresh stuff. I hate to admit it, but processed field food does keep much better.

True, but I would have brought seeds along, at least. The processed food will only feed so many people for so long, so unless they find a steady source of trading, they need to start growing some food.

*G* I have an oc running about in my head whose first action upon entering Atlantis (well, almost) was to look for a kitchen and claim it for Texas, so I've given a fair amount of thought to this.

For Texas? Lol.

It was the bit about being unable to get seconds of airplane food that cracked me up. But really, when you think about it, that makes sense. We know that he didn't get on with his parents and was an alternately ignored and yelled at child, so he probably didn't get a lot of proper food as a kid. Too many packets of icky pre-prepared food will do odd things to a person's taste, especially if they're in their formative years.

Good point! I'll bet he ate a lot of instant macaroni and cheese. I wouldn't wish that on anymore.

Not much of one, if his first focus is the ruins, not the people. /snotty Sorry, I just hate that someone on this show's staff decided artifacts are the first concern of social scientists, when someone like that should be bouncing at the thought of getting to meet a brand new and totally different society. Just because Daniel goes gooey at ruins doesn't mean they're everybody's favorite.

Heh. I have a feeling the Stargate writers confuse anthropologist with archaeologist. I mean, if there are no people, the ruins are your best bet to learn about them, but yeah, if they're still there, focus on them.

*nodnodnod* It makes so much sense as behavior for someone who isn't accustomed to physical danger.

Uh huh. Not everyone is going to take to it quickly, and I like that he's allowed to get nervous about placing his life in danger.

Golly, though, that was fun. Though I wanted to smack Sergeant Bates for being a bigoted idiot. Yeah, sure, it can't possibly be one of the folks from Earth because you know them all SO well. Right. 'Cause I'm certain you grew up knowing them, and knowing their parents and families and so on.

Lol. To be fair, I'd have a hard time buying that one of the Earth crew would do that. I mean, they agreed to go on a one-way trip and most of them are scientists who just want to learn about the ancient city. But yeah, dismissing it completely wasn't a smart thing. Like you said, suspect everyone and you won't overlook something important.
