Really, until they know what sort of consequences could be involved (diseases, pregnancy, etc), they shouldn't go around sleeping with any aliens.
That's true. I doubt they'll put in any outright canon pairings this early in the series, anyway. I just never tend to like the forced "romantic tension between one-shot guest star and recurring character" plots on any series (I seem to remember SG-1 doing it from time to time as well). There's usually just not enough time to make it believable (I know, this coming from someone who fell in love with McKay/Beckett after two episodes... heh).
I think Teyla doesn't want her people cut off without having access to the gate and any knowledge the Atlantis crew might come up with. I guess being a sort of liason will put them all in a better position.
