Look at Rodney's face. He certainly doesn't look happy that Carson's smiling at the alien doctor chick.
I'd rather there not be romance involved either, but as long as it's just a little flirting, I'm ok with it. Really, until they know what sort of consequences could be involved (diseases, pregnancy, etc), they shouldn't go around sleeping with any aliens.
I think Teyla doesn't want her people cut off without having access to the gate and any knowledge the Atlantis crew might come up with. I guess being a sort of liason will put them all in a better position.
