Well, I wasn't expecting that so soon! Wow. As slowly as Arthur and Gwen's relationship ambled along last season, I really expected them to drag it out this season as well. But no, two episodes in and we get snogging.
Not that I minded the snogging, of course. They're not exactly sizzling with chemistry or anything (and honestly, it's fair that Gwen will have better chemistry with Lancelot anyway, and she does), but they're cute. And pretty. Pretty in profile with the sunlight and...whoo. Yes. Anyway. Still a bit uneven, of course, but she does tell him like it is and I like that.
I also like Gwen's wardrobe upgrade, even though it's a bit fancy for servant's clothes. The embroidery is exquisite and her hair is better this season, left down a bit more. Very pretty indeed.
Arthur was pretty at every moment in this episode. Even when he was feeling up a chicken.
Very little Morgana at all in this ep, which sucks, but looks like next week is her turn. I'm glad it seems she'll finally learn about her powers, and Merlin will know as well, but I want to smack the Slash Dragon for saying all that crap about "It would be better if the young witch never knew the extent of her powers". I'm sure that will turn out well. So far we haven't seen one positive example of a woman with magic on the show, and that annoys me. Every other witch we've seen has died so far, and although yes, we've seen about as many men who practice magic die, at least we have Merlin, and to an extent Gaius, as positive examples of warlocks. There must be other at least casual practitioners who aren't evil.
Anyway, back to the ep. As nice as it was to have Arthur show humility at the end, I do think it's a bit of a stretch that William won't be found out. If he won the tournament, likely there was a feast or at the very least an audience with the king, some point where he had to interact with nobility. And now he'll be expected to defend in the next tournament. That's a lot of opportunity for him to mess up. Did he impersonate someone or did they make up another title for Geoffrey of Monmouth to call foul over?
Argh, what the hell, I love this show anyway. Despite my almost forgetting today was Saturday and that meant new Merlin. I am so out of it this week.
