Too many new things lately...
Jan. 20th, 2012 08:48 pmI wish websites and things wouldn't all update so close to each other. Still annoyed by the newest Google crap (luckily they let me go back to the old email page for now) and its all-hovering No You Can't Have Any Visible Tools or Helpful Text awfulness. LJ remains broken in many ways. YouTube is ugly. I'm sure there are more.
Now I've updated to the latest Firefox and it promptly lost all my add-ons. Nothing listed, though they still had buttons and seemed to work. Restarted again and they were listed again, but many were disabled with a claim that they were no longer compatible. Except they all were. I had to go and reinstall every single one and enable it again, even though they were in my add-on menu already. That is way too much manual shit to do in what should have been an easy upgrade.
The new Firefox UI is the worst thing I've seen in a long time. My long time beloved theme is no longer supported, so I'm having to make do until I can figure out how to put things back where I want them. I just, argh. I don't like stupid small changes that aren't helpful and only serve to make me hunt for things. Why would FF suddenly swap the "open in new tab" and "open in new window" buttons? That serves no purpose and only makes people mad when they choose the wrong one b/c their finger memory is now "wrong".
Seriously, what's with this "minimalism" stuff lately? After customizing my stuff to have all manner of helpful labels and neatly organized buttons and tools, the most stressful thing ever is to suddenly be met with a blank interface. Can we go back to functionality over form, please?
Today has just been that kind of day. I am SO looking forward to Festivids going live tomorrow.
