I am graceful, like unto a gazelle
May. 4th, 2011 11:06 pmI had to fill out an accident report at work today that will likely amuse the safety officer. Or cause him to take away our office toaster oven.
Yes, I burnt the everloving shit out of my hand on a toaster pastry (It bugs me that it says "pop tart" on the report written by the security officer/EMT I went to in order to ask about burn cream, b/c I hate pop tarts. But these "organic" toaster pastry things are pretty good and don't have HFCS in them. But I digress...).
We have a shitty toaster oven in our break room that doesn't have a good auto-shutoff, so either you just crank it up and then watch it like a hawk or it burns your food to a crisp. I was making tea and didn't watch my breakfast closely enough, and it got a bit overcooked. Normally this isn't a problem, but the frosting on the top has a tendency to caramelize and turn into raging hot liquid sugar fire. So, when I was taking it out of the toaster (with a paper towel, trying to be careful!) and in my hadn't-had-caffeine-yet morning state fumbled it and it dropped frosting side down on my palm...yeah.
Yay for second degree burns. I have a nice blister now. Having to fill out a questionnaire about "what equipment was being used at the time of the accident" and "what steps have been taken to prevent this hazard/behavior" was just an insult to injury.
On the plus side, I have a new phone! I'm still waiting on a few other things to arrive before I can upgrade my plan and use the thing, but I finally have a smartphone. *proud owner of T-Mobile G2* Am looking forward to playing with it. Happily, it was affordable thanks to finally being eligible for an upgrade, and the extra overnight I have to work this weekend will cover the cost, so it's not coming out of my budget.
Soooooooooooo glad Bling is only a week away. Can't wait to see everyone! *needs a break, omg*
