GIP! and new icons

Quite a few new icons up at my page, inspired by my conversations with [livejournal.com profile] sensefille about Misters Fry and Laurie, their multi-talented natures, and how attractive each of them is seen sideways (and indeed, from any angle at all).

I've left the majority of these without text, so if anyone has a caption they'd like, just ask and I'll happily oblige.

The number of icons I've made has now gotten quite large, so I've separated them onto two pages. Page 2 is here. You'll find the new icons there, as well as the other Jeeves and Wooster icons.

Wow, three posts in one day. A record for me. Terribly sorry to be spamming LJ like this :)

Oh, squee, that is a cute one. You're so good at making icons, dash it. Do you mind if I nab #3, perchance? I've tried and tried with the Bertie/Jeeves ones and failed every time...amusingly, even with that very picture, but no, no dice. ;)

Btw, keep the posts coming, I hardly consider it spam...it's fine reading material. :)

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! *blush* You may certainly have #3 (Hugh and Stephen as Bertie and Jeeves, in hats, right?). Would you like any text on it? I left plenty of space at the bottom for a caption if you have any preferences.

Yep, that's the baby. Thank you so much--I've been pining for a J/W icon for such a while. I always admire people that can make good icons. I luck out only if the picture is a really easy one to manipulate and, egad, those Bertie/Jeeves photos are tough...so, believe me, the praise is sincerely meant. Re the text, I'm going to leave it as is, can never come up with decent captions for these things. ;)

Thank you again!

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You're quite welcome! Enjoy the icon :)

I'm still relatively new at the photo manipulation thing, and I've found it's mostly a trial-and-error learning process *g* Sometimes it takes me forever to crop a pic correctly and I tend to spend forever choosing a font. The ones where I actually have to move two people closer together in order to fit them both into an icon are the hardest. Those just give me fits.

Woof, that merging stuff, or smushing people together, is difficult. I took a book out of the library about Photoshop and tinkered around with that yesterday...not easy. I'm also disgustingly lazy, if I can't suss a picture out right away, I give up and look for something else. ;)

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-17 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It's mostly trial and error, so just fiddle with it and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it :) I think I've run out of photos of Hugh and Stephen to play with. Even a google image search didn't turn up any more of them together.

Hee, you've certainly been busy if you've run out of photos--I say, if you're going to play with photos they may as well be of cool people like Hugh and Stephen. I think I'll give the merging junk another go when I'm in one of those painstaking moods.

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-18 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, they do make good playthings ;) Have fun toying with photoshop, I'd love to see what you come up with.

[identity profile] viola-cesario.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, your new icons are so lovely :)

Don't apologize, I'm much worse than you are at spamming LJ horribly...and I greatly enjoy all your posts! :)

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, on all accounts! I don't mind your spamming either, everyone on my friends list is so interesting :)

[identity profile] ealgylden.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, the pic on your new icon is adorable. Just too cute.

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Aren't they adorable? The pic is from the front cover of the first book of sketches from the "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" series. I couldn't resist it.

[identity profile] sensefille.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You're just begging me to get a paid account, aren't you? Those are marvelous!

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh heh, I just like being a bad influence. One of the main reasons I got a paid account was so I could have more icons :)

Thank you! *sigh* Doesn't Hugh have the prettiest blue eyes?

[identity profile] sensefille.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's definitely the best benefit, in my mind, of having a paid account.

He really does have such beautiful eyes. That's one of the reasons I regret having a black and white icon of him.

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
True, but even in black and white that's a lovely picture of him. I do wish the man would smile more often, though. His smiles are so apologetic!

I'm giving in...

[identity profile] sensefille.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Those icons are too tempting. May I have the first one? (Care for A Bit of Fry and Laurie?)

Re: I'm giving in...

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Certainly :) It's all yours.

Btw, that's an adorable pic of Stephen. Where did you find it?

Re: I'm giving in...

[identity profile] sensefille.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'll have fun using that one.

I found it on www.rexfeatures.com. You can use it if you want, especially since I'm afraid it's going to go the way of lost icons, as much as it pains me to do so.

Ooh, what a cool website. Thanks for the link! You'll just have to rotate icons as the mood strikes. I have to do that even with a paid account, there are just too many icons I want to use.

hey

[identity profile] shiva113.livejournal.com 2003-07-16 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I just wanted to say hey... and that I got a one year paid for LJ myself.

So... "Hey!"

Shiva! Dearest Blossom, welcome to LJ! I assume you found me through Kat :)

::friends you::

yeppers

[identity profile] shiva113.livejournal.com 2003-07-17 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I sure did. Hope ya don't mind me looking up your journal. :)

Did you like Gods & Generals? I've heard mixed opinions on it.

Re: yeppers

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-17 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all! I haven't advertised it over at Deb U or anything, but I certainly don't mind my friends knowing where it is :)

Oh yes, I liked it very much. Enough to have seen it 3 times in the theatre *g* My only quibble is that there wasn't nearly enough of General Hancock in the movie, who is one of my favorite historical figures and a much greater presence in the book.

well, I, for one, am enjoying this place. I'm still trying to get the hang of it, though. There's alot going on at the LJs.

So what you're saying is that G&G is good enough that I should rent it and watch it? :-) I might have to do that.

Re: yeppers

[identity profile] castalianspring.livejournal.com 2003-07-18 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, this place is definitely jumping. I'm so glad you're having fun :)

Oh, certainly! The movie was very well done, as historically accurate as possible. It's very long, but very entertaining.
