Well, that was stupid.
May. 16th, 2008 01:11 amI just spent ages trying to figure out why the shiny new DSL was being slow today, figuring the crappy weather might have something to do with it.
Decided to turn everything off and reboot the main comp, modem, and router to see if that would fix it. Checked settings, all the usual crap. Yet I overlooked the most obvious thing ever - loose power plug.
Yup, some idiot had plugged in a pencil sharpener to the power strip, and in the process must have knocked the router plug. It was in there, and power was getting to the router, but just barely. No wonder the damn DSL was so sluggish all afternoon. Argh.

Despite slow loading times, much of my otherwise boring afternoon has been spent reading The Comics Curmudgeon, a blog dedicated to snarking daily newspaper comics. I only read my comics online these days, as our local paper carries only a bunch of crap, but I've had endless amusement reading the horrible, eye-stabbing badness I've been missing out on.
