Laptop upkeep - woe.
Mar. 17th, 2007 11:52 pmMemory issues sorted out - tech person assures me it's a legitimate issue where the video card takes up 128MB of the RAM for itself before Windows gets to have any, so I've got what I'm supposed to have. I still plan on upgrading, but not until I shop around a bit for the best price for some more RAM.
The problem with the dead pixels on my screen required my laptop to be sent away, probably so they can replace the entire screen. The guy at Best Buy said it would take up to 10 days, which, woe! I went ahead and gave it to them anyway, b/c if I don't do it now then it won't get done for quite a while, but parting from my baby was difficult in the extreme. I'm using the old Dell laptop now, and it's as slow as Christmas. It feels weird, too, so big and clunky compared to my shiny little Compaq.
All of my important files are stored on the external drives, but still. I miss my Compaq already. 10 days...*sigh*
