I hate this week.
Aug. 9th, 2006 04:46 pmA few good things: I had an idea and changed my design around and now I think my y-maze experiment will work better. It won't be exactly what I wanted to test, but it'll be better statistically. I can still do the other stuff as an extra, with just descriptive analysis. Also, I found more cuttlefish in one of the freezers, so I can use those for my cuttlebone experiment.
Very bad thing: I accidentally went into overdraft on my bank account here, something I've never done before. I didn't notice b/c I truly thought I'd deposited enough, and the only thing to tell me it happened was a small letter D beside the amount when I checked online (I check pretty regularly, and honestly, the change wasn't that noticeable). No letters, and my card didn't even stop working. I got a phone call finally, but not in time. I don't get why something didn't change, b/c my international student account isn't allowed an overdraft. Now I'm really afraid I'm going to be charged some crazy amount, b/c I did make several payments while it was in debit.
I'm sure they do that on purpose. Certainly, why tell someone they've miscalculated and overdrawn, why turn their card off or not allow any more withdrawals when you can let them keep doing it and rack up all kinds of fees.
I've checked my charges summary online and all they list is 19 pence of debit interest, but I'm really afraid there will be something more at some point. What I really don't need is a hundred quid's worth of charges. If I have to beg, plead, or complain about something, I will, b/c yikes.
This week just sucks. I'm tired and worn out and now I'm making stupid mistakes that I don't normally make. I'm in debt enough as it is thanks to this student loan, and I don't need any stupid, wasteful charges on top of everything else. I mean, shit, I live like a monk as it is and barely spend money on anything.
ETA: Home now, and of course today I have a letter. Just asks for me to deposit enough in my account within seven days of the letter (which I've done), etc, no mention of charges. Whew. I suppose that'll teach me to look more closely at badly designed internet banking sites.
