Not another one, damn it all to hell and back. One of the larger males from Tank B committed suicide some time last night and I found him this morning. This is going to hurt my numbers for the Y-maze experiment so frickin' much. Worse, the one that jetted out earlier turned out to be female, which makes me just sick.
I put my foot down about the covers and today we got the stuff to make some lids for the tanks. They might not be perfect or pretty but maybe, just maybe, they'll keep these things from jetting out like that.
It's odd that we would lose two in one weekend, and I have to wonder if they're not agitated b/c of all the construction that's been going on. They're putting in a new lift or something and have been drilling and jackhammering outside the front of the building. If anything, I'd put my money on that, though it's odd that they're doing it at night and not during the day when the noise is occuring.
*sigh* I have more cuttlebones for that experiment, at least. But dammit, if I end up not getting to do any mating experiments at all I'm going to be extremely pissed off. Unless these others are ready soon my only hope may be those lures we're working on. If I could catch enough animals to test then release once I was through with them, that might just do the trick.
