Happy St Patrick's Day!
Mar. 18th, 2006 01:04 pmDude, St. Pat's Day in Bangor really rocks. We have a lot of Irish in the School of Ocean Sciences, and these girls really make an entire day of it. We started at Wetherspoon's at 1pm for lunch and a few pints, and while a few of us took a short break after that to run home and do a slight amount of work so we wouldn't feel guilty (ok, all six of us, maybe), the rest stayed out. Lots of pub-hopping. The Harp, The Fat Cat, O'Sheas, the Belle Vue (where we stayed for rather a long time) and eventually to Menai Bridge to finish in the Auckland.
Would've gone to Patrick's, but the owner totally sold out and started charging £5 to get in the door. We said hell with that.
I didn't have any Guinness but there was plenty of cider, a midori sour, and some sambuca shots. Got a little tipsy but not pissed, despite Ciar's attempts. There was shamrock face painting, green sparkly stuff, Guinness hats, etc. There will be photos, oh yes.
That was probably the most fun I've had going out all year. We didn't go home until half two, and really I didn't go home at all since walking back to Bangor that late so didn't appeal. I crashed in a spare room at Grainne, Amy, Heather and Lucy's place and all was well. We've all got so much work to do over the weekend, which sucks, but last night makes it all better. We need Irish parties more often!
