ADSL help?
Dec. 9th, 2005 07:13 pmAll-knowing flist,
So far I've been limited to getting online mostly at uni. Christina has ADSL at home, but her modem isn't a router, so I can't get online with my own computer w/o buying a modem as well. Not willing to pay 40 pounds or more at the store, I got a cheap modem off eBay, but I'm hesitant to install it b/c Windows keeps telling me the driver isn't digitally signed. Not having come across this message before, I'm not sure whether going ahead and installing the thing anyway won't hurt my computer.
The company that makes the modem, Conexant seems ok, but I'm not sure if I should just get rid of this one and just wait for another good auction. Christina has a Zoom ADSL modem, and I could always get one of those. I'm just impatient, b/c I chip in every month for internet access and though she's fine with me using her comp to get online, it's still a pain and I want my own hooked up asap.
Any of you familiar with ADSL? Any advice?
