Ah, there's nothing like a lucrative trip to one's local library (except, of course, getting the books to keep). Yesterday was almost completely unproductive except for the library visit, but I have books and am therefore happy.
I was hoping they would have the Welsh language guides by Gareth King, but no luck. I did, however, find an old hardback titled Teach Yourself Welsh, by John Bowen, which seems to be a rare find indeed. It was published back in 1960, and isn't even in print anymore. It looks pretty useful, though, so I'll add it to my lessons.
Other finds:
Presenting Welsh Poetry - The poems have, unfortunately, been translated, and only the English text is given, but they are Welsh poems and so I shall read them.
Welsh Hymns and Their Tunes by Alan Luff - Music! Many of the hymns have been translated (w/o the original Welsh text, dammit), but there are some folk songs and carols in Welsh (huzzah!), and I can always look up the Welsh text for the other tunes they provide. Many of the hymn tunes are ones I use every Sunday in the Episcopal hymnal, such as the "Hyfrydol", which is rather cool. I'd love to find some nice ones I could sing in church.
The Search for the Giant Squid: The Biology and Mythology of the World's Most Elusive Sea Creature by Richard Ellis - I've been meaning to read this book for some time. It's a bit out of date (pub. in '98), so no info about the Colossal Squid or the latest discoveries, but it looks like a marvelous book and I'm loving it already. Squid!
Speaking of squid, GIP. An icon that represents my love for the animals and simultaneously squicks
keleos. Hee.
