A day off is a wonderful thing.
Mar. 19th, 2004 05:06 pmI called in sick to work this morning. Am I sick? No, not as such...but I haven't used any of my sick days yet, and hey, you use them or lose them, so I used one. And ok, I sort of lied and told them I was sick and had spent the morning worshiping the porcelain god, but I'll pencil in a few minutes tonight to feel guilty about it.
It's 70 degrees here. It's hot and there are bugs. In March, dash it all. I miss winter...
Went to lunch with mum at the English Rose and stuffed myself with Dover sole, mashed potatoes, salad, sticky toffee pudding, and tea. On the way out, I saw an absolutely gorgeous tea set in their shop which I would love to have some day. It's fine bone china, with a trefoil/shamrock pattern. There's a small 2-cup teapot which is adorable, and a larger one for company. I found a dealer on eBay who is selling a set for four, with the large teapot, for $150. That's the cheapest price I've found so far.
I'm rather torn about the set, b/c I've been looking around for a tea set to no avail (most have floral designs, which I don't want), and this one is just about perfect. It would be a good investment, and I know I would use it, but this isn't the best time for me to be buying big items. *sigh* Mum has said she might go in on it with me, then I can buy her part back from her later on, so we might do that. I hate only having four days (for the eBay set) to decide, though.
Have also been spending a lot of time looking online for Welsh silver crosses and the like. I've been wanting a good silver Celtic cross to wear at church for some time (such crosses being the most often used crosses at Episcopal churches), but I'm picky about jewelry and want just the right pendant. There are some lovely Welsh pieces here and here, several here, and several more here. Anyone have a favorite, or other site suggestions?
