Baking! And various messes.

I have scones! Got it into my head tonight to bake something British, and went looking for scone recipes. I've made them before, but little ones, the kind you set out for a bunch of people to try. This time I've got big ones the size of American biscuits, with Double Devon Cream and strawberry jam to put on them and PG Tips tea to drink with them. They actually turned out pretty good, too. Yum.

Another plus - I didn't make too much of a mess this time. Not even while kneading the dough. Huzzah!

Next I'd like to try the Jam Roly-Poly, but I'm still unsure as to how to go about boiling it. Until I actually make the pudding, I have no idea how large it will be, ergo, no idea what size pot to use. Oh well. Perhaps I'll just try the Sticky Toffee or Persimmon Puddings next (if the store ever gets any more persimmons in, that is).

Hope everyone had a happy Valentine's Day. I spent it with cimmerianwillow, as it is also her birthday ( Happy Birthday, Het!), and had a lovely time. We watched the commentary track on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (my gift to her) and The Road to El Dorado (the slashiest animated movie ever, I swear. Thus, GIP. Miguel and Tulio, as voiced by the hysterically campy Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline).

This morning I did a very bad thing and overslept, missing church. Much guilt, because I wasn't there to sing, and I'm not actually sure how they did the Fraction Athem. Perhaps someone else sang the cantor bits. Still, I feel bad for leaving them in the lurch without any notice. Bad me.

Still haven't gone to see Miracle yet. Perhaps tomorrow. I want my hockey movie.
