castalia: (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy)
Dear lord, but I wasn't prepared for this afternoon. I was getting so comfortable only having to deal with 2 or 3 kids at a time, maybe 4 at the most, and I truly thought that was all I was going to do. Then today, my boss tells me that a 4th grade teacher has a meeting, so I'm to watch her class. I had to give them a spelling test and then keep an eye out while they did their AR reading. Doesn't sound too bad, like that, but I swear these children were demon spawn. Future Aunt Agathas, some of them.

It was only for an hour and a half or so, but when it was over I wanted a valium and a lie down. I don't see how these teachers keep the kids quiet, on task, and not killing each other on a daily basis. Miracle workers, says I.

Coming home was nicer, as a lovely package from [livejournal.com profile] ealgylden. Now I have Without a Trace episodes to watch, The Life and Times of Horatio Hornblower to read, and some yummy suckers to eat. Thanks so much, Joan!

For your daily allowance of meta, there's the beginning of a discussion about curtain-fic, the generalization of the term, and why romance doesn't have to be a bad thing in fanfic, in [livejournal.com profile] kattahj's journal here.

For another non-sequiter...whoa, Franklin was the straight guy. I didn't see that coming, honestly. Although I didn't like Wes at first, he's grown on me and I'm glad James chose him, and didn't get hurt by choosing any of the posers.

Queer Eye, next! And another fun night with the Chatterleys. I love Tuesdays :)
