Installation and whatnot.
Aug. 27th, 2003 10:31 pmWow, what a great night. Today was the installation service for our new priest, the first such service I've ever seen. Very cool stuff. Bishop vonRosenberg did his thing (while wearing his nifty hat...sorry, his miter) and Father Ballard's sermon was lovely. We sung the anthem we had commissioned for the occasion, and it went better than I thought it would.
Afterwards, Father Joel said the nicest thing to me. He was complimenting us on the music, said he enjoyed my solo, and then mentioned the Fraction Anthem. He said he told the bishop that we had a special way of doing it (I sing the first and third stanzas, everyone else echoing with the second and last), and that in his opinion, it was the best Fraction anywhere. He was so nice and sincere, and I'll be blushing for a week.
Tuesday was my first day actually teaching the kids, and it was one of the most nervewracking things ever. I'm still feeling a bit out of my depth, but today things felt better and I'm getting more comfortable with the routine. So, no longer quite as terrified, which is good.
I'm beginning to see that I'm going to have much less time for online things now. Only 3 or so days of work, and I'm already so very behind on LJ. I do apologize to all of you, and I promise I'll get to your posts and replies soon. At least I have weekends :)
