I lost two of my cuttles today. Two out of the 15 I'm keeping at high temps with maximum food. I'm not even sure what killed them, as they looked fine and dandy yesterday. Now I'm down to 13 and some of those aren't looking so hot today either.
I'm starting to wonder whether these animals can eat too much. I know you can overfeed aquarium fish, but as the adult cuttles we have seem to be choosy and if they're not hungry they won't go for food, I assumed the juveniles would be the same. But when I dissected the two dead ones, their stomachs were very swollen and much more prominent in the mantle cavity than they should've been. I'm going to lower the rations on the others, just to see, but damn, I hate losing animals.
Data for cuttlebone experiment is starting to look promising, but I still need more replicates. Sexing the juveniles is still nigh on impossible and I haven't had any luck seeing the developing gonads some of my sources tell me are there.
I can't believe it's almost the end of July. Where is my summer going? I still have so much to do and so much outside of work that I want to do and I have no time for any of it.
*flails a bit and worries about the other 13*

As I should have said before the majority of American's that I have met in Oxford have been great, so there are others out there fighting the good fight.
