Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 of your own weird habits" and people who get tagged need to write a LJ entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. As some of you know, I'm weird about food. I have a system. With large things like pancakes or waffles or lasagna, I have to cut it up first, usually into a grid pattern so the pieces are equal. Eggo waffles are special, though, and get their own pattern which I won't go into here b/c some of you (you know who you are) will poke fun. When I eat meals, I eat a bite of every separate thing in order, then take a drink of whatever I'm having, then start again. None of that eating all of one food then moving on to another for me.

2. I'm addicted to Carmex lip balm. Thanks to many years of playing the trumpet and licking my lips to do so, I can't go even a few hours without lip balm. I've tried other brands, but they don't work quite so well.

3. I talk to myself a lot. I mean a lot, though it's more like thinking out loud, almost a manner of keeping a running commentary. Whether it's working out plans, figuring out what to make for dinner, or just telling myself what I think of something, I do it out loud. I'll also hum, sing, or even play with accents while I'm doing it. It used to drive my mother up the wall.

4. As walking on its own is boring, I like to walk and read. I was especially good at this at school, where I could navigate the hallways and other people while reading whatever book I had to hand. This tends to freak people out, and they'll usually stop and watch, just waiting for me to walk into something. I don't think I've ever hit anything, though. I also see reading as an interactive activity, so if I'm not careful when in public I can present quite a specatcle, as I'll react out loud to whatever is happening, berate the characters or the writer, laugh, or use all manner of facial expressions to reflect my opinions of what's happening.

5. I don't much care for jewelry, but when I do wear something, I wear it obsessively. When I was in high school, it was a tiny, tiny silver cross on a kid-size chain (it was a gift from my mother, but at the time I was also heavily into the X-Files, so that might've contributed). I only took it off to shower. That one broke long ago, alas. These days I wear a silver charm of a naval cannon, on the shortest chains I can find. It's actually quite a conversation piece, and I'm asked about it more often than anything else I wear.

This one was pretty hard, though I'm sure some of you will comment and point out plenty of quirks I've missed :P

Hm, whom to tag. [livejournal.com profile] cimmerianwillow, [livejournal.com profile] lornelover, [livejournal.com profile] kitzen_kat, [livejournal.com profile] amedia, and [livejournal.com profile] writerlibrarian.

I am being so lazy this week, I almost feel guilty. It's nice to catch up on sleep, but I need to stop staying up late and sleeping until noon, b/c over here it's dark by 4 or 5.
