10 hour days in the lab and the field just for watching seaweed dry and looking at barnacle penises under a microscope. Now that's what I call biology.
I realize as a true scientist it is your duty to disdain it, but have you read the most recent Popular Scientist? metherion is still getting it at our address and I got a real kick out of their annual feature, the 10 worst jobs in science.
This year's contenders included people who collect orangutan pee (to measure hormone levels), people who collect micro-organisms from uninhabitable places, sperm donation processors, etc., etc. #3 on the list was my favorite - biology teachers in Kansas. I photocopied the article and gave it to my colleague next door, who is teaching a course on science and religion.
