Vid Instarec: Red Right Ankle (Doctor Who)

Sometimes I'm a bad online vid watcher b/c I tend to skip over vids by vidders I'm not familiar with. But this one grabbed me because how could I resist a Donna Noble vid set to a song by The Decemberists? I'm glad I checked it out.

Red Right Ankle by suchaprince

Red Right Ankle is one of my favorite Decemberists songs, so simple yet with beautiful analogies and some truly gorgeous chords. It really works with Donna's story quite well, with its swing between poignant and happy and back to sad again. It's quiet yet powerful for me, and makes me miss Donna all over again.

She's my favorite of the New Who companions, and it still breaks my heart when I think about what happened to her.

I really, really like Martha, but I have to admit Donna is my favorite (I was never very fond of Rose). I loved her season so, so much but I can't watch the end again. It hurt, and not in the good way.

I really like Martha, too. I even liked Rose, up to a point. But Donna will always be my favorite, I think, the way Ten has become my favorite Doctor.

Mm, Ten wormed his way into my affections in a way Nine never did. I'm not looking forward to the next regeneration, that's for sure.

Watching the vid reminded me also of how much I covet Donna's wardrobe. They really dressed Catherine Tate perfectly.
