Dragon*Con Thriller Dance - World Record Attempt

Still waiting for the official video to be posted (possibly at this website, but so far there's a great one up here of the full dance that really pans the room a lot and shows the variety of costumes. [livejournal.com profile] delle, you're in there quite a lot! You guys look like you're having so much fun.

There's also one of the practice up on YouTube, which showcases a guy in an Alien costume totally kicking ass at the dance. A few glimpses of [livejournal.com profile] delle in there, too.

If I had any rhythm at all, I would've done this, but I know I would've fallen down a lot. Good job, all you dance-inclined fans!

If you didn't know, there's actually a Guinness World Record for number of people in one venue dancing to the full radio (or is it album? I forget) version of "Thriller" using a certain choreography of moves from the Thriller video. Current record is the College of William and Mary with 242 people. If the D*C attempt is accepted, it'll blow them out of the water with 903. Awesome!

::blush:: yeah, I'm in there a lot. I also think it's really funny that you can hear me during the rehearsal one - at one point I yell out "back to the beginning" for my group of n00bs.

it truly was an AMAZING experience.

No wonder your voice was so tired! I'm a little jealous of you guys now :D

I practiced it. I was going to participate. I got the whole thing down, including that damn air guitar and the section with all the holds that confused me when I was doing the counting. But I couldn't do it full speed and make it all the way through the song. I lost ten pounds in the effort, but couldn't quite pull it off. So I TOTALLY salute those of you that made it. That's so wicked cool.

And I did squeal a little when I recognized you in the videos (I was pointed at them earlier today.) But in my defense, I'm still very tired, and the squealing was somewhat involuntary. ;)

oh, I wish you had come! we had some people that arrived at the very last minute and really didn't know the dance at all - you could have 'marked' it (doing the dance easy) and been there! maybe next year????

By next year, I should know the damn thing backwards. :) And maybe I might even be able to do it at full speed. I'm going to keep practicing it, because it's fun and the exercise seems to be doing good for me.

The huge MJ glove cracked me up. But not as much as the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I LOVE all the costumes in there and the dedication it takes to try to pull that off in Storm Trooper gear. Wow.

*nod* The dedication is just impressive. I can't dance at all, so seeing people dance in costume is just awesome. I hope you can do it next year if they do it again!

If they do this next year I'm SO totally going to do it!
